save the date details

So what exactly goes on a save the date? Just the date/location? If we are located in one city and the wedding is in another town about 20 minutes away....do I put the location as our town or the one where the wedding is being held? Its a tiny town and guests will be staying where we live

Re: save the date details

  • I put

    "Kindly save our date"

    our names
    the date
the town where the wedding is
    wedding website

    "invitation to follow"

Most of my guests will not be staying in the town where the wedding is either.  The whole "town" if you want to call it that has 180 people.
  • I put the location that the wedding is in, not where the guests will be staying (smallish town, better hotels in the town about 20 minutes from the church and ten minutes from the reception). It also gives guests a chance to find hotels that are close, should they want to find their own things.

  • Agree with pp.  STDs should have:

    -Working "Save the Date"
    -Your first and last names
-City and state of the ceremony
    -Your wedding date
-"Formal invitation to follow" < or something similar indicating this is not the invite themselves
-Accommodation details like room-blocks <and if you don't list this, at a minimum list your wedding website and have the details on there so those who are interested can start planning/booking.
