Bummed......

First I want to say hi to everyone as I am new to the board. I figured that you ladies would be able to lift my spirits. My FI and I had just picked the date and venue for the ceremony and reception. Everything was starting to fall into place and then he called telling me that he is going to be deployed again. He doesn't know where or when but we don't want to risk making deposits (which we were going to in the next week) if we are going to lose them. I'm new to the whole deployment thing because all his were before we met so I'm kinda freaking out. Do you ladies have any suggestions for me?

Military clause. Get one in all of your contracts.
Military Brides December 2011 Siggy. Holiday picture with your SO. We suck and don't have one :/ Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

Hello and Welcome to the board!
Congratulations on your engagement, and I'm sorry that the planning has suddenly it a wall.
I think that has happened to us all at some point :) My wedding location went from being in Chattanooga, to Washington! haha :)
Hae him talk to his command. If he explains that he is trying to get married, they may or may not give him a little more info, or tell him when he should definitely NOT get married, date-wise.
When you book vendors, ask them to include a military clause. This will allow you to reschedule your wedding with those vendors without losing any money, should the military affect your wedding date!
I know it's stressful, confusing, and frustrating... but it will work itself out in the longrun, and I'm sure he is worth the pain ;)
Hope you stick around and feel free to ask anything!

Thanks ladies. We will be getting married (eventually) at Caesars Palace in Vegas and we have up to a year to after we make the deposit. However with him not knowing when he will be deployed we don't want to run the risk of that year running out before we can actually get hitched. I also have no idea what I am going to do with myself for 6 months while he is gone. I guess I'll need to find a hobby.

    haha Hobbies are good :)
    School
    classes
    gym
    job

Those things all help.. You'll figure it out. a 6 monther eh? Is he Navy? That's about the length of my H's deployments as well. I'm thankful for it though! I know a ton of people with year long deployments and my dad was stuck deployed for OVER TWO years!! With no R&R. Nuts.

You're a Vegas bride? Awesome! I definitely recommend posting on the LV board, people there are very helpful and many have gotten married at CP. Will it be at the Juno or Venus garden? Those are so beautiful! I definitely wouldn't book anything until you know more of his deployment schedule and like others have said military clauses are a must.

I know deployments suck especially if it's your first time but it's also a good thing. Going through a deployment is not easy and how you deal with it is a good indication of how strong your relationship is and will be. It's tough on both parties, for some it's even a "make or break" for their relationships. Just keep yourself occupied while he is gone, find a new hobby, take classes, work out. This past year the best distraction for me was wedding planning!

<div>It will be in the Juno Garden. We have only seen the pictures but it looks amazing and we definitely want to get married there because we met at Caesars Palace. I was also lurking around that board as well and we actually decided on a reception based on the suggestions from there. </div>

FUN wedding you're trying to plan! If I wasn't doing the whole rustic theme, I would so be doing the Vegas wedding! Is he in the med. field in the AF? I ask because I know that meds only get 6 mo. deployments. (I am extremely new to the military thing, actually my FI isn't even officially in yet, but he's going for Army dentist and was told that they get 6 mo. deployments.)

Hey and welcome!  Vegas sounds like fun.  I think none of my wedding party would have made the wedding had we had it in Vegas.  HA!!

My H is army and is now deployed which sucks but hey that is the job right?  I just make sure that I am busy with things and I am catching up on trash TV.  H hates those shows.  He says they destroy brain cells.

    Congrats!

I see your ticker - you may have to go back to the main board page and click on the upper right hand side "See signatures" or something to that effect in order to see it.  Can you see anyone else's signature pictures or ticker?

    Hi and welcome!
