Sheryl Kelm or Diana?

I got an email back from Sheryl and she said she would be able to do my alterations for my June 3rd wedding. I also talked to Diana (Maryland seamstress) and she said she would be able to do them.

Who should I go with? I have prices from Diana ($55 for a french bustle, and $80 to take in side seams), but I don't have prices from Sheryl. Any opinions??

Sheryl i think likes to see the work and what she has to do before giving a quote. She is charging me $120 for my alterations. That includes, taking in of the bust and sides, putting bonin in the sides, and doing my bustle. In order for her to take in the bust she has to undo the little pleat at the top of my dress take the sides in and then re-attach the pleat. SO she has some work ahead of her.

I would suggest making an appointment to meet with her and letting her see what exactly needs to be done. She will then sit down with you and go over what needs done and give you a quote. You can then either go with her or not. She is super sweet and you will love her!

I'm using Sheryl.  My dress is very very plain, there is no detailing that she has to work with.  She is taking in the top a little bit, and doing a french bustle for $85.  She is very nice.

Like PP said, she likes to see what needs to be done before giving a price since dresses are all very different.  Some have a ton of detailing on them, while others like mine have none.

I used Diana when I married my second hubby and the prices she qouted to me over the phone were more than she actually charged me once I got my gown there. About $50 more. I loved Diana and her work, she is super friendly and took my gown in 8 inches ( there was a order error) did my hem & bustle and steaming all for $185. My daughter used Diana too when she got mariried and she was charged around $150.
