Bridesmaid Gifts Question

I was wondering what to do about bridesmaid gifts. I know you are supposed to get them what you would get for either their birthday or Christmas. The thing is I always make gifts, either food or a silly trinket. Is a handmade bridesmaid gift acceptable?

Of course. The relevant issue is whether or not the gift will be something they will actually like and appreciate.
