Thanks for any input :)

Re: Route 66

  • You do know that Route 66 no longer exists, right? The Interstate System pretty much dismembered it long, long ago. You should really talk to the people on the Thorntree at LonelyPlanet.com if you want to talk more about things to do along pieces of the strip that still exist, but most of them will tell you that it's all a bunch of phoney nostalgia staged for foreign tourists. If you have no idea what there is to see/do along the Route, what was it that made you want to spend your Honeymoon driving it?
  • That is actually a trip I have always wanted to take! We are doing something different for the honeymoon but my FI has promised we will do it some day! We want to end in Disneyland for some extra classic Americana! Make sure you eat at lots of great cheesy diners and enjoy all the tourist stuff! I got this book to help plan my trip and make sure I don't miss any of the awesome Route 66 classic stops!

I vote you go classic American muscle car from the 1950's! Convertible if possible!

  • Well, it supposedly starts in downtown Chicago, and there's LOTS to do there!
  • The driving part is more for my FI as he love cars and driving, i know Route 66 isn't really there any more but it has been something that we have wanted to for a long time and it is a good way to see as much of the US in a short amount of time, we are getting a flight to Hawaii at the end to give us a break from the driving :)
    Thank you for your input!!
