Stone Harbor, NJ

Hello, I'm a newbie and just  wanted to know if anyone was planning or has been married in stone harbor? I am newly engaged and in the very early stages of my planning.
We are from Pittsburgh, PA but we vacation in stone harbor every July. We both went there as children and when we met, we started going again. So we consider it to be our "spot" and have always talked about getting married there when the time came.
We would be having a VERY small private(immed. family only) wedding there and have a cocktail-style reception at home for other family and friends.
Thinking about September of 2012.
If any one has suggestions or info, I would really appreciate. I am very familiar with the town(including Avalon) for vacationing and such but kinda lost when it comes to the things that would go with a wedding. THANKS!!

Stone Harbor is gorgeous - are you looking for outdoors or a religious location? You could probably get married at the beach at The Point, or maybe consider the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary... for food, I think Quahogs would be a good bet - delicious yet fun. Just make sure they are open past Labor Day. Good luck and let us know how planning goes! And congrats!!

The southernmost beach... there is a parking lot at the end of the island and then just a huge beach! super pretty... i am a biologist and some areas are fenced off for endagered birds, but there is still plenty of beach for people.

We are getting married at the Golden Inn which is technically Avalon, but is literally on the border of Avalon/Stone Harbor.  The mayor of Stone Harbor actually officiates alot of their ceremonies.  However they only do day (12-5) receptions on Saturdays.

Are you having a large wedding?? I have been on their website and thinking about calling them. My only issue is I am only having a small intimate wedding(20-25max) and not sure if they do small weddings, seems like they only cater to bigger weddings. Have you been happy with them? I am also planning on setting up a meeting with them on our yearly vacation in stone harbor this July.We are planning a september 2012 wedding so i have time yet

We always go there to find seashells!! I never knew it had a name, I thought that part of the beach was "protected" so i'm not sure if they would allow that. Although i have seen brides having pics taken on the public area by all the sailboats.

I don't think it would hurt you to call.  We are having like 120 people, but that is in their main dining room.  They have two smaller rooms that I think they could work with you. I don't think they have views of the beach, but the actual ceremony would be on the beach.  They use those rooms as a backup for the ceremony in case of rain and cater small business lunches, etc in them.

Even if you don't go with them, I've only heard really good things about the mayor as an officiant.
