XP: no aisle

my brother is helping with our wedding, my father died 20yrs ago.  since we are having a home wedding and there is no aisle I wont be needing anyone to walk me down the aisle.  does anyone have any ideas how I could recognize my brother for helping with the wedding?  I want to do something special for this generosity.

also, since there is no aisle, I was thinking that my FI and I should do a first look and than walk into the living room together hand in hand where we are having our ceremony and have all of our guests join us.  does this sound ok?

Re: XP: no aisle

  • After the ceremony you could do a little speech thanking your brother for all his help and support.

Maybe you could have the guests seated in the living room and after the first look you and FI could walk in, which would signal the start of the ceremony.  I think that would be lovely!

  • I think you should do the first look, let your guests come in without you two there, and walk up together, so everyone knows it is starting.

As for your brother, maybe make a a little speech or a toast at the reception.
  • Your brother can also be your man of honor, you can have a brother/sister dance in place of a father/daughter dance, or he can give a reading.

  • My father died about 10 years ago, so I'm having my grandpa walk me down the aisle, and my brother is my man of honor. :) I will also probably dance with both of them, but I'm not doing a specific father-daughter dance since I don't have a father anymore. Like Raptor said, he could give a reading, or you could toast to him during the reception to thank him for all of his hard work.
