Dang, Ohio State---:(

What with the players being suspended and now the coach!?!?  Sorry, I had to say something.

Although, to play fair, our fave school was ranked in the top for felonious/naughty players.  Yay?

The worst part is it's so disappointing that Jim Tressel had several occasions to tell the truth and did not.   He has always been this great, nice, upstanding guy - - he's even written books about character and morality - - so this is just a big blow.     :(

I thought the same thing AF, very sad.  All those emails...all those opportunities.  And those danged players...selling trophies and rings.  What were they thinking!?!?!

And the players didn't even get much for what they sold...

I'm sad about the whole thing.   DH won't talk much about it - - I think he's super depressed.

That too, shall pass.  They'll still be an upstanding and awesome performing team.  No worried, AF.

Well, some players got suspended for a few games early next year because of memorabilia that had been sold or exhanged for goods with a man.  Turns out the coach was aware of it, and rather than expose his own players, he kept it quiet, therefore he was penalized as well.

Of course the crazy part is the Federal agents only found out about this because they guy who had the items was raided during a drug bust and he had all of the items in his possession.  Craziness.

A few players got suspended late 2010 for selling some of their memoriablilia earlier in the year (or the year before, I can't remember.)
At the time they were suspended, Jim Tressel said he hadn't previously known anything about it.   Turns out, he received an email about it in April 2010.   He claims he didn't know what to do with the information and that he didn't know whether or not to beleive the email.   That sounds all fine and good until you find out he was directly asked the question several times in 2010 and lied.
This is all coming out now because some of the memorabilia was sold to a drug dealer that is under investigation so there are all kinds of agents and lawyers involved.   It's all bad news.

Stossel had a segment on this, and on the broader problem of college athletes not being compensated and not being able to hold down a job without endangering their scholarships.

The fact that this victimless "crime" came to light during investigation for another "crime" just compounds the ridiculousness IMO.

The whole thing makes me sad.

DH's only comment "The bastards would be running some serious laps."
