June 2013 Weddings

first dance...then last dance

I joked to my daughter and a bridesmaid (my best friend's daughter, they are both sophomores in college) that mine and FI's song was going to be Rhianna We found love...and they cringed.  FI and I have "songs" but they are either inappropriate (we like a lot of alt rock) or so old and tired like us, and we wanted something different.

Then I found this and I really think this is it.  Then we were thinking the original version would be our last song.  I know most of you are younger than me and older than my daughter so I'd love some opinions from people hipper than me.

And has anyone else figured out what they and their bridal party are being introduced to?  We are thinking all old hard rock intros like ac/dc for those about to rock, metallica, etc  or old school classic rap like beastie boys sabotage, run dmc walk this way, etc.  We deinitely want some type of theme there.

  • The bridal party entrance song is something that we keep changing. Our current idea is the one by Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction (I think), that's called "It's Always a Good Time...", but I really like the Rihanna song you mentioned and we have thought about using that too. Another idea we had was "I'm Glad You Came" by The Wanted. FI even talked about the old school Chicago Bulls theme song (I'm from the Chicago suburbs and he was a huge Bulls fan growing up), but I'm not as into that one.

Truthfully, we just want something fun and we didn't want to do "Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night" since that is what they've played as an entrance song at every wedding we've been to since it came out in 2010 (like 4 weddings!). So, we'll probably wait until a little closer to make our final decision.

  • Cili, I quite like that version of "Only Girl in the World", and I like the idea of doing that version for your first dance, and then the original version for the last dance.

Although, according to my 16 year old sister, I'm totally unhip (I'm 28), so I might be way off here. :)

Our bridal party entrance is Hall and Oates' "You Make my Dreams".
  • I keep trying to convince FI that the introduction song needs to be "Queen - You're my best friend". He just laughs and says no, but doesn't give any other ideas LOL

I have the opposite problem...my FI has too many opinions, lol.
    He would like "mo'money mo'problems"

  • So I have been to a million weddings, but cant seem to remember how it works- bridal party intro, then our intro song and then our first dance song, is that right? Or is our first slow dance song later? Ours is going to be a mostly younge wedding & we want it to be really fun and upbeat so the bridal party was entering to "Bring em out" and we are entering to "Crazy in Love"....but our song is "Love Song" for our slow dance...
