Candy Buffet

If you did/are doing a candy buffet what kind of candy did you use? I'm going to start buying candy after the new year and am not sure how many kinds or what kind to get (I'm having about 90 people at my wedding) any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks dolls!

Hmmm, I'm curious to hear about this, too.  We were giong to go for a large desert buffet type of thing.  Are you saying that you're bringing in candy from the outside that will be set up on a table?  And the venue is okay with it?

We had one at our wedding and it was great! And we have a lot left over, oops.

Do you plan on sticking to your color scheme for the candy buffet or you don't mind and just want a variety of candy types?

We went to Costco and bought candy there. Since our wedding was in November, it worked out to our advantage to get the big Halloween sized bags of candy (which thankfully were not in the Halloween colors.)

    Here's what we had:
    - plain m&ms
    - peanut m&ms
    - york peppermint patties
    - wintergreen lifesavers
    - tootsie roll pops
    - a variety of hard candies (came pre-mixed from costco)
    - a variety of chocolate candy like reeses's, kit kat, snickers, milky way, almond joy, etc.
    - trial mix
    - twizzlers

I think that was about it...we still have the jars if you're interested in buying them. I bought them off a previous knottie and I'm more than willing to pay it forward!

I am doing a chocolate candy buffet. I am getting a whole bunch of different varieties including some sugar free for my grandfather. I was planning on filling up the favor box of chocolates and weighing it. I was then going to multiple that by the number of guests that are attending. I would rather have too much than too little. I have also heard that between 1/4 and 1/2 pound per person.

I am doing one. Since  my colors are navy blue and fuchsia--I am not sticking to my colors. I am just going to do a whole bunch of different candy. I am thinking of doing:
Plain and Peanut M & M's, York Peppermint Patties, Twizzlers, Swedish fish, jolly ranchers, reeses peanut butter cups, choc covered raisins. I plan on buying all the candy at Costco and BJ's since they are the best places around that I have priced. I think they say the rule of thumb is 1/4lb per guest.

There is a website, www.candywarehouse.com, that sells bulk candy for very good prices. It also has tutorials on candy buffets and shows you, in containers, how much 5lbs of candy will fill in a container. I intend to order the candy for our candy buffet from there.
