1 or 2 entrees? that is the question...

Morning ladies, and Happy Friday to you all!!

Little run down and my question, hoping you all can tell me how you did this or how your going to do this..

Wedding in Oct, menu needs to be picked by August. I want to get my RSVP cards done like yest (lol)
Everyone and there momma is asking if Im gonna have 2 choices for dinner, I personally have never been to a wedding that was 2 or more choices (would I love to be diff) of course, but is it a pain? My DOC at the venue said 2 entrees is possible but that every guest would have to have a card placed in front of them with there dinner choice on it.

What if the guest forgets what they want, and wants to change there mind once dinner is being served. What if guests show up that didn't rsvp?

What to do, what to do?

TIA

Jess

Well if they forget, that's not your problem! People will pick chicken and once they see how good that steak plate looks, now they want to second guess. Your budget was not made for last minute changes because someone wants something else. If you pick chicken that's what you get! Some girls have used stamps with animal symbol on the place cards. I have also seen different color cards symbolize what meal; like pink placecard would equal to pork. People that did not rsvp and show up I plan on giving them the option either wait till everyone been seated and if there is a spot available(some who did not show up) they can gladly have that seat, otherwise I plan on not forking over anymore money on my wedding day for extra things like an extra plate.

I'm so glad you asked this question!! I'm interested in seeing the responses on this one! We're not doing place cards, but we're doing seating charts in front of the ballroom doors. While guests will select their entree when they RSVP and the waitstaff will know that table 5 had 3 people with chicken and 5 with beef, I'm wondering how it will work if people decide to up and change their mind. Since it won't be on a card, it could get dicey.

I think you should have some type of color code system so the waitsaff will know who gets what. Also tell the waitstaff to serve whats on the card, no last minute changes! I think every venue plans for uninvited guest or dropped plates with a few extra meals.

2010bride2be are you having menu cards on the table? Maybe you can color code the back of the menu cards. When you say no place cards do you mean you wont be telling your guest to sit at table 5 seat 2? If your having cards directing them to the correct table you can get those little dot stickers and color code the back of them so the waitstaff can check them before placing the plate

MsApril..We are having menu cards at each setting, but while we're telling guests which table they will sit at (on the seating chart), there is no specification of which actual seat.

I'm starting to think that the only way to do this is to either A. hope that people will remember their choice or be honest and not change their mind or B. suck it up and have the venue prepare a few extra of both entrees just in case something does occur. I really, REALLY want these seating charts b/c I think they're gorgeous, so I'll have to deal with the consequences. :(
