Destination wedding

I am trying to plan a wedding in Puerto Rico because my finace and all of his family are there, preferably not by San Juan but prices are outrageous. I must say New Jersey prices are not much better but at least they have more to offer as far as food/liquor. I first hand know how cheap that is in PR but apparently they hear wedding and see $$$$$.  Does anyone know of a reasonably priced place on the West Coast side of PR?  Thank you in advance.

  • I know there are some brides here that have information about PR. Hopefully, they will come on later.
  • Me me me. I have info on Puerto Rico but I must admit I was never able to find something within my budget. If you would like to see what I have send me an email to bridechan at gmail dot com and I can forward you my excel sheet comparing venues and vendors. It's not complete but it'll still save you hours of leg work. :)
  • I am too from New Jersey and decided to go with a Destionation Wedding. Depending on what time of the year you want to get married in & where, I think DW are much more cost effective. We used a company called DestionationWeddings.com and they helped with all the planning! We eneded up choosing Mexico not PR, but I think a wedding in PR would be beautiful as well. You should check them out, they are highly recommended by any bride I've ever talked to and they were amazing helping me with my wedding. Best of luck :)

I can't speak for PR, but the company we used to book our wedding was awesome!

We went through DestinationWeddings.com.  They helped to plan everything.  My wife attended a webinar that cost $50 and I assumed it was one of those things we were basically throwing money away for.  We weren't.  They helped us pick a place that worked for us - gave us several options.  And when we narrowed it to Mexico in Cancun, they gave us resorts based on our requirements - smaller...very good food...quiet...no kids...

We also had a wedding coordinator that helped us - Maureen.  We owe her A LOT!!!  Ended up having to deal with a hurricane and change our dates a bit.  I know it sounds like a commercial, but they really did make it very easy.

    Good Luck!

You should definitely consider the destination route.  We did and absolutely loved it!  I cant say enough about the whole experience.  We also worked with www.destinationweddings.com and I'm so glad we did.  They really have a knack for getting some of the most amazing properties and resorts at really affordable prices.  They can work within any budget and you will find that your dollar goes a long long way down there moreso then at home.  On top of that, they have a 24/7 worry free support line for while you're travelling so you and your guests can be rest assured that someone is there to help and take care of you along the way...the service doens't end when you step on the plane!  There's nothing like experiencing a magical wedding in paradise and getting to live out that dream for a week with your friends and family. It's something that I'm so glad i got the chance to do and would do over again in a heartbeat.  The most important thing is to work with the right company to ensure that your questions are answered, and you have peace of miund which is why I would have a look at www.destinationweddings.com...they work with resorts all over the world.  Check them out, you won't regret it!

    Good Luck!

  • We used the service destinationweddings.com to plan our wedding and they were able to negotiate great rates on just about everything (flowers, rentals, etc.) because of their great relationships with the resorts.

    Good luck!!!
