Seamstress/alterations

Anyone have a recommendation for a seamstress/tailor?  I bought my dress while out of state so i won't be getting the alterations done at the shop where i bought it.  the dress is lace and has lots of detailing so i'm afraid of taking to just anyone.  Any recommendations?
Thanks brides!

I went to Marlene's in Niagara Falls.  She really knows what she's doing and has been great to work with.

    Here's her website:

About how much were alterations at Marlene's?

The shop I bought my dress from told me to plan on $300 just to take in the top and add a bustle...where other stores told me $150 for bustle, taking in the top and the hem. I already went over my budget on the dress and I really don't want to spend another $300 on alterations.

I heard that Bridal Chateau's seamstress is really good, my cousin bought her dress there 2 years ago and they did her alterations. I was thinking of calling them.

I don't know the final cost yet since I don't pick up my dress until Tuesday.  The estimate was for a bustle, hem (3 underskirts and the outside layer of the dress with embroidery at the end of it on the train), taking in the bodice with lots of beadwork, and steaming the dress, and it was about $250.

When I actually went to get it done, she hemmed the under skirts but added more pickups to the outside layer so she didn't have to hem it to save me some money.  I did add some stuff to it (bought a crinoline from her and am having her alter it since I'm between sizes so it was a little big).

The problem I found when looking for a seamstress is that most of the bridal shops will not alter a wedding dress that was purchased from a different store.  Bridal shops also tend to cost a little more.  I got an estimate for just doing the hem of $150 at Victorias and have heard a typical bustle is around $100, so there's the $250 without touching the bodice.
