E-pics with different photographer

Can you get your engagement pictures done with a different photographer than the one your using for your wedding?

The reason why I'm asking this is because our photographer is from South Jersey and he does the engagement pics by him and I'm in North Jersey. Can I use a different photographer for those pics?

    Yeah, why not?  It's your money.  However, I'd recommend using the same photographer for both. That way you'll be familiar with him/her on your wedding day.

    Sure, I have friends that moved far away but are coming back here for their wedding because family is here, but the used a photographer local to them for their e-pics.

    You can do whatever you want! Like the others said, it's your money to invest. BUT, I'd strongly suggest having them with the same photog as your wedding. We just did e-pics yesterday & it was a blast! He tried almost every angle possible and was able to find which ones flatter us the most. 

    We're both much more comfortable in front of the lens & confident he will do a good job. Now he learned our best sides & how we interact. According to him, pics on our wedding day will be even faster b/c everyone knows exactly what to do to get he best shots. He also traveled about an hour to a location I picked, so I bet your photog would be willing to travel too. 

    Again, it's all up to you!

    We are probably doing both. We had e-pics done a few weeks ago with a photographer that my family has used for years for maternity pics, baby pics, family pics, etc .. and FH was very comfortable with her so he insisted we use her (he is usually VERY camera shy) ... She was super friendly and the pics were very casual  (still waiting to see how they came out) but I'm 80% sure I'm going to call our wedding photographer and have another set of e-pics done with him too, just because I want to experience how he works prior to the wedding  ~ I agree with PP, it's totally up to you ... do what you are comfortable with!
