Am I crazy?

There will be 60 max at our reception.....and I think I'm going to make my own cake. Am I completely insane?

I'm thinking just a small tier for FH and I to cut and enjoy and sheet cakes for the guests.

Lame?

Crazy?

[QUOTE]If you can do it ahead of time, I think you will be fine. If you will be crumb coating a cake at 11:30 pm the night before your wedding, then that is crazy.

That would be nuts. I did that for my sister's baby shower. Ha!

If you're an experienced baker, as your name implies, and you have time to do this ahead of time without stress and having to worry about getting it done last minute, then sure - go for it.

<div>If you had said, I'm going to bake my whole 3 tier wedding cake, my answer would have been different, even if you were an experienced baker. But one tier should most likely be okay. Plan way ahead and possibly have a back up plan if things go wrong. </div>

I was my friend's MOH a couple years ago, and we made her cake together. We made a three tier cake, but only the bottom tier was real. For the rest we bought round styrofoam and iced it like we did the actual cake. It was super easy, actually, and looked great. She went to school for baking and pastry arts, so she had the background to decorate it, but honestly if you just iced it with a flat icing or even a fondant you would probably be fine.

As long as you can plan your time, if you think you can do it, go for it. My MOH is making the grooms cake of Friday and then finishing satuday morn and wedding is Sunday,
