NOLA on a budget!

Hi, all! :)

I was born in Metairie but moved up to Memphis when I was four. All my family is from Louisiana so I am planning to get married at St. Rita's in Harahan, the neighborhood church where a large portion of my dad's family was married. We have to go down in January to meet the priest before we can officially set the date for May (quick, I know.) Unfortunately, both me and the fiance have very little time to travel down there due to work. Can anyone suggest some budget vendors within the Harahan/Metairie area or have any experiences they can share?

Thanks in advance!

Im having my wedding reception in january at The Rose Garden which will be in the area that you're getting married. My finacee and I are doing a bit of a rushed wedding as well. We got engaged for Halloween and decided waiting wasn't for us. We're Catholic and got a bit of the run around at first because they want you to wait 6 months but after begging and pleading they decided to let us do it.

Anywho, The Rose Garden was priced at $5800 for 100 people which is reasonable compared to other reception sites in the same area. Champagne Palace quoted me $14,000 for the same day!!

Check out their website therosegarden.com. Ms. Vita is the owner and she's super sweet and helpful.

    Good Luck and Congrats!!

We're getting married at Smilie's Restaurant. It is very budget-friendly.

Others have already said my suggestions - Champagne Palace, or Smilie's.  There have been ppl on here who've been married at both, just run a "search" on this board to see.  GL!!

I will definitely check it out. :) I feel like my dad would go into immediate cardiac arrest at $14,000. I'll ask my parents what they think later.

I am also thinking of possibly using a venue that lets you bring your own food/drinks in, as we are kind of partial to having Drago's food (but if that's impossible, that might just be for the rehearsal dinner).

I think if my dad had it his way everyone would be in jeans, rent out a hall, and just do a crawfish boil. lol. :D

    LOOOOOVVVVVEEE Drago's.

They have a huge location at the Hilton in downtown.  I wonder if you used the Hilton's ballroom if you could have Drago's cater?

We are using the nice banquet room at Andreas restaurant. Its $47.56 per person & includes an awesome buffet spread, open bar, plus the wedding cake. They are located on Causeway Blvd & 19th St. in Metairie (across from Lakeside Mall). We went in for a free food/wine tasting & they treated us like royalty, not to mention our table was covered with a ton of food. I highly recommend checking them out, but you can't have the May 1st date cause I already took it. LOL! Good luck!
Let me know if u need help with anything else. I feel like I'm an expert at this now. I have a great photographer who is EXTREMELY reasonable & will go to as many locations for an unlimited amt of time. I also have an awesome hair/make up girl who will come to your house. Email me at lbmsrlotr@yahoo.com if u need any other info.

The Kenner Pavillion is a little further away than the venues in Elmwood but it is very pretty and inexpensive and you can bring in any caterer. The catch is that you have to bring in everything yourself.

Does Drago's not rent out space for private parties?

We are using dragos at the Hilton for our rehersal dinner and they dont have any private rooms. They have a space that is seperate from the restaurant, but its not an actual room.
