Starting to think I may change my ceremony site....but idk ifi am being rediculous

Ok, so my wedding isnt until May of next year... We booked our ceremony at Mill Race Village in Downtown Northville and the place is absolutely beautiful but I just purchased my wedding dress and my train is super long and no one will really be able to see it...so I was thinking about maybe looking for a church (like i originally wanted) but Im not a member of any...am I changing the ceremony site for a silly reason?

  • i would say its a legit reason! i would want people to see the train of my dress too! if you aren't religious maybe a church wouldn't be the best place for your ceremony... but of course if you are religious it would make sense! to me it would be silly to have it at a church ONLY for that reason...

all in all, i would say changing the site so people can see your train is a fine idea!

Do what makes you happy, some people choose specific churches based on looks alone, because they want their pictures to look a certain way.
Did you already put a deposit down on your ceremony venue? See if there is a way you can build the layout so that guests will be able to see your beautiful train. What is the problem with the venue as of now? Not spacious enough?

Maybe you can add a little stage/platform so you and FI can stand up a step or two and your train can drape down the steps? If the chairs are set up for the ceremony, maybe you can set them back a row or two further back than they usually are. For more room at the front.

  • Since you have some time I would suggest to just start looking at churches.  I think you will be surprised on the costs plus the cost of a cancellation fee (if there is any) at your current location.  If there is a cancellation fee I probably wouldn't change but if in the long run it's cheaper to go else where then I would go somewhere else.  HTH and GL!

  • Honestly I think it's a little disrepectful to get married in a church that you're not associated with.  I mean if you're methodist and you want to pick a methodist church fine or if you're catholic and you want a catholic church, fine - but choosing one so that your train looks nice?  I kind of find that offensive, and I'm not even particularly religious.  Maybe look for another secular venue where your train will look nice instead.

  • If you love your ceremony site, I think changing it just so people can see your train is a little odd. However, it is your wedding so you have to do what makes you happy. Look around and if something better comes along, then go with that. Good luck.
