$45 pp in Chicago or West Suburbs?

Does anyone know of a venue with decent food and ambiance for about $40-$50 per person (including 4+ hours open bar) for a reception in the West Suburbs or Chicago?

The church is in La Grange so we're open to anything within a 45 minute drive.

I'm starting to resign myself to the idea of wedding debt since everything listed as "affordable" has a $10,000 food and beverage minimum. Just double checking before I sign away my pocketbook for a few years!

Let me know if you know of a place! Laughing

I don't think you'll find anything in chicago for that price. i did a TON of research and visited a million venues (lofts, restaurants, museums...). we didn't see anything even close to 45pp. i think your best bet is the suburbs.

My son wanted to have his reception in the city as well, but did not want to spend a huge amount of money either.  He scoured the internet and took suggestions from anyone and everyone.  They did find a "reasonable" (it's all relative) package at Quartino's on State, although it is slightly above your price point.

Another popular, "affordable" recommendation was Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro.

When looking, prices will definitely dip down considerably in price going just outside of the city because of  the reduction of taxes and surcharges.   One place my son considered as sort of a win-win......bordered on the city and afforded public transportation for city friends, yet "suburban" enough for the "older" drivers.......and yet budget friendly was the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and The Hilton O'Hare.

What kind of crowd are you expecting number-wise?  H and I did our reception on a Sunday evening at Klein Creek Golf Club in Winfield.  We had heavy apps, cake, and a hosted bar.  For approx 50 people we paid about $3000.00  They have the large banquet "tent" but you have to guarantee 200 people and I believe it's not in your price range but you could always check.  We used the smaller club room and it was fine.

I looked at William Tell banquet hall in Countryside (right next to LaGrange), and they had some dinner packages in that price range. We ended up booking at the Waterford banquet hall in Elmhurst, which is just slightly above that, but mainly because of our date and the availability of the room we wanted. It was a really nice venue though. :) Hope that helps! The Waterford is also really nice, and have their bar and dinner packages separate which can save money if you have a good number of underage guests.

We had our reception at Avalon Banquets in Elk Grove. It's right on 83 and Higgins. I don't know when you are getting married, but they gave us a great deal on our wedding this past March. Everyone LOVED the food and I was happy with the service. Our package included 5 hours of bar (1 hour of that was cocktail hour) and our wedding cake (which was delicious)! Good luck.

Normandy Banquets in Lombard - it's where we are having our reception.  They don't have a website though. You can get plated meals or buffet, but all are under $45 pp I think.  We are getting the econmy buffet which includes 4 hours of open bar for $31 pp.  We are tagging on an extra hour and they only charge $200 for that.  It's half American Legion hall and half banquet hall, but the hall is really. really nice.  They are letting us rent the actual American Legion side for an extra $250, and we are going to use that as a separate room for the kids to have their own buffet with food they will like (I really wanted all the kids to be part of the wedding).  Their cost is just for food, bar and room rental though.  You have to get centerpieces and the cake on your own. They give you white tablecloths, but if you want something different, they have someone they use for that that has great prices too.

Definitely Belvedere Chateau as PP said. That's where I am having mine, in Palos Hills. I know they are going up on prices soon, however. Good luck!

We are having ours at Glendale Lakes Golf Club.  If you go off season with the discount the lowest price ends up being about $47.   The best part is the package is awesome & gratuity is built in!!!!  You just pay the tax.  I would definitely check it out if you're looking for a good deal at a good location.

The Victora group has 3 locations near O'Hare. They have a million options for dinner and drink packages, the lowest that I remember seeing was $55, but they are very customer serive driven and will work within your requests. Good luck!

Its a pretty plain venue, but with some creative decoration we are hoping it will be really nice.
