My mom and maid of honor are wanting to have an engagment party for me and my fiance. I was just wondering what exactly happens at an engagment party.

    I'm not entirely sure. I kind of think it's really just a party. I'm sure there would be some kind of toast to the couple and I would assume if I'm invited, I would bring a gift. Other than that, I got nothin!

    Yup I agree with  Ellen! I think of it kind of like a open house for your high school graduation. Just kinda hanging out, not really required to bring a gift.

    Engagment Parties are usually a way of announcing you are engaged, and often of showing eachother off to friends and family who haven't yet/recently seen the lucky couple together. Its also usually a time for early toasts, embarassing baby stories/photos...a sort of way to bring start mixing his family and friends with hers.
