Travel Agent - Triad Area

Anyone have any recommendations on a good travel agent in the Triad area?

I went to A Way To Go Travel and had the most terrible experience with the guy who we made an appt to meet with.  So they're definitely not an option!

Oh really....wow....who did you meet with?  I am so sorry to hear that because that is exactly who I was going to recommend!  We booked our honeymoon through Allen Williams there and he was really good to work with.  Sorry you had a bad experience.  You could always talk with Jennifer with VIP Vacations online.  She is wonderful!  We talked with her, too, but Allen ended up getting a slightly better deal, so we went with him instead.

That stinks that you had a bad experience.  Everyone I know who has used a travel agent in the Triad area has gone there! Maybe it was just the one person you met with, or the one branch (I think they have several)?

Anyway, I am using Jennifer at VIP.  I really have no idea if it saved us any money but it sure was nice to get an itinerary with all the details planned from private transport from the airport, to train tickets between cities (Italy), private tours a few days, and lodging! We picked the cities we wanted to go to, and one b&B we wanted to stay at, and she did the rest!

I can't give any recommendations, but I keep getting emails and regular mail from the Mann Group, so they might be another place to at least try out.

We used one of the AAA travel agents at the office on Blue Ridge.  She was very nice and helpful.  When Disney started running a special shortly after we booked our trip, she did all the work to get us the cheaper prices without having to do anything.

Leigh Anne - that's interesting.  I met with a guy named Allen, not sure of his last name.  I bet its the same guy.  I had scheduled an appt with him for 1:30, and he contacted me and asked if we could move it back to 2pm.  I was like, sure, not a problem.  So I show up at 2pm and he's no where to be found.  One of the other people working told me he had just left and was taking a late lunch.  So I waited about 20 mins and he sauntered back in, in no rush.  Someone told him, hey your 2 o'clock is here.  And he came up and shook my hand and started BS'ing about something else.  Its one thing to be late to an appt, but then not to even offer an apology or explanation as to why you just made me wait 20 minutes for you?  Not acceptable in my book.

Is this the website for the VIP travel group you all are referring to?

    Yes it is.

You are right, I would have been annoyed if someone asked me to rearrange a schedule, I did, and then he was late and didn't even apologize!  Hopefully he was just having a bad day and not all their agents are like that!

We're using Jennifer at VIP as well, though I'm not much help with her because FI is doing all of the HM arrangements as a surprise for me.  He has said she's been great to work with so far and she is prompt about emailing him back to answer his questions.  Hope that helps!

Where are you going on your HM?  When we went to Europe a couple of years back we used Erika Christ out of Alexandria, VA. (We used to live in DC).  I've still never met her, but she was the most amazing person in the world to work with.  She mainly does Europe things though.

If it wasn't for her I would still be stranded in Rome after our airport shut down and she was there to help me at 3:30am EST!

We want to go somewhere warm and sunny.  Leaning towards an adults only, all-inclusive resort.  I just don't want to have to do the research and book everything on my own.  Plus I would feel better having a TA to fall back on if anything were to go wrong.  :)
