Reception Entertainment Question

We are having a small wedding out of state, and are expecting no more than 50 people. It is also on a Monday with most everyone spending the entire week down there. Our reception is a seated dinner with an open bar. Outside of that we have nothing planned for any entertainment. Should I look into a DJ or just let it ride? I feel like it will be pretty boring and quick with no entertainment, but just don't know given the size. Thoughts??

Re: Reception Entertainment Question

  • I think you'll need some sort of entertainment, though 50 is small for a wedding, its not like an initimate dinner of 8 where everyone is engaged at once.. id look into a dj, if only for a 2 hours
  • If it is in your budget, I would look into a DJ. We have definitely had work parties with less than 50 people and a DJ!
  • I agree. FI's son's wedding had maybe 65 people and they didnt have much music. Everyone was gone within 2 hours. And our work Christmas party there were maybe 40 people and we had a DJ.

  • Yeah, I would definently get a dj. There not to expensive, and maybe would get a price cut if you only need them for just a couple hours, and not 5 hours... You will need some music to keep your party going, or you could get an ipod, and have a set list on there to play in background during, if you cant find reasonable price for dj to fit the budget

  • Ditto PPs. I think people will leave soon after dinner if you don't have any form of entertainment, and a DJ is a great solution!
