Rustic fall wedding Long Island reception! Help!

I was wondering where I can have my rustic fall wedding next October. I'm really into barns and historical sites. I'm having about 145 guests. Just like every bride I am on a tight budget. I've looked at everything in the vineyards and east end and everything is out of my price range. I also want to avoid catering halls. I want to keep the site fee under 2,000. I've considered the bates house in setauket but can't get myself to "settle" on it. I also really love the George weir barn in Lloyd harbor, but you have to get porta Potties and that's gonna be difficult with my guests. I really need help! Lol I've been searching everything and I can't find anything. I'm afraid ill get to the point where I'll become too stressed and settle with something I'm not "crazy about" just because it "works". Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!!!

  • The Bates House is great but you would be squeezing your guests into it with 145. To be honest, it is going to be REALLY hard to get into that budget for a location with that budget. I can tell you that Hallockville Museum Farm includes the porta potties for a small fee and they are already on the property. They are nice ones too, not the typical portas. However, as stated, it would be a bit over budget. With the experience I have with this, I know that this location is one of the cheapest for that capacity. You may be able to cut some corners elsewhere or have to cut your guest list a bit.
  • There's not too many barns on Long Island... I mean as compared to other places. Why not look into a bit upstate like Orange County or something? I think there's more of a variety of what you're looking for.

  • While its not a barn, I'm looking at having my reception at Three Village Inn and the wedding at a nearby park in Setauket with an old school house on the property.

  • I love the George Weir Barn!! I was just there yesterday (Sunday) viewing it. Although I love it, I'm kind of mad right now....
At the beginning of September I met a man that told me his son was having their reception there and it was only costing them $650. Yesterday I went there and the trustee that was decorating the place for a Halloween Masquerade Ball, said the rental fee was $2500. I have spent the past hour searching on Google, and most brides have said the rental fee is $1000, even people that have posted 5 days ago.
    1. What is the rental fee???
    2. If it is $2500, what the heck!
I am so happy right now that I have found the perfect venue, but at the same time, I'm kind of mad because everyone else is saying the rental fee is $1000 and I'm being quoted for $1500 more!

    HELP!
