Palermo people..

When did you go/are you going for your cake tasting and to pick it out?  We know which cake we want, it's just a matter of tasting... Are there any flavors that you reccomend?  When I called she said 2months out is fine, but I feel that is extremely close to the date.  Any advice is always appreciated!

I think we went about 4 months before, I don't really remember. They had told me we could go whenever we wanted to, so just make an appointment when it is convenient for you.
If you are interested in chocolate, the dark chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling is delicious. So is the nutella filling, if you don't mind getting a cake made with nuts.

We just went Tuesday and did everything and our wedding isn't until next November. I know next year will be crazy for us and we decided to just get it done. We picked vanilla with cannoli filling, dark chocolate with Oreo filling, and red velvet with cream cheese filling so we covered all our bases. Make the appointment whenever works for you and have fun when you go - we were definately on a sugar high when we left!! ;)

When I called, they actually said a month would be fine too.  We ended up going with Le Petit Gateau, but anyway, you have plenty of time.

I called them over the summer and they told me to come in November for my March wedding.

we went about 3 months before our wedding. we picked devils food cake with oreo mousse filling (sounds gross, but was delicious). i remember i liked the cannoli filling too. i made the mistake of eating a full bite of the first few cakes then i became full very quickly and didn't enjoy tasting anymore. i would recommend you taste the actual cake (choc, vanilla, red velvet...) then just taste the different fillings. have fun at your cake tasting!

not all of the chocolate cakes are the same, some are a little different...for example one is dark, one is regular, etc.. so just make sure you try each type of actual cake.

My reception venue uses Palermo but I won't be going to see them until 3 months out. I am craving Nutella now ....

We went about 6 weeks out from the wedding.  We picked white cake with the chocolate hazelnut filling.  Delicious!

They told us 1-2 months was fine.  We went Labor Day weekend, so about 8 weeks out (we're getting married next week).

We went about 2.5 months out and were fine.
You can actually pick more than one cake/filling if you have several layers, which helped us since it was so hard to narrow down.
We recently had our wedding, and the cake came out really well. I've had some dry wedding cakes at other's weddings, but ours was really good (and I'm not being biased b/c I'll admit our appetizer was not v goodl).

I went to a wedding that Palermo's did the cake. The choclate cake with Oreo filling tier was good, as was the Tiramisu. Have fun!

I think we're having 3 tiers in which one will officially be Nutella.  I grew up on it!  I'd love to do carrot, which is my favorite cake, but I want something everyone will enjoy.

I think I am going book for next month December which is just about 6mos out.  Thanks for all of your opinions and advice- I truly appreciate it :)
