2-week *not* crash diet?

I am 2 weeks out and I'm trying to find a healthy way to eliminate & prevent bloating. I'm not trying to lose weight but I'm trying to find something requiring minimal effort in the cooking & prep department..maybe a smoothie plan? Any advice appreciated :)

Re: 2-week *not* crash diet?

  • I don't know much about diets and wouldn't feel comfortable recommending one but your doctor may have some suggestions.  For me, bloating is usually related to too much sodium (salt) intake or caffeine.  Also time of the month.  I would cut out things like sodas (drink plenty of water though), processed foods, fast food. Sodium isn't just from the salt you sprinkle on your eggs - most of it comes hidden in the foods you buy.  Look at the labels for the things you buy - many things have added sodium that you wouldn't expect, and the levels are crazy high.  Things like sandwich meats, quick-fix dinners with the powdered sauce in the box (hamburger helper type things), have shockingly high sodium content.  Stick to natural whole foods if you can - mostly fruits and veggies, some lean protein, and carbs (complex - whole grains) for energy and you should be all good.  I personally don't function well without some caffeine but maybe try to keep it limited to some green tea if you're like me.
  • Cut out grains and go low-carb (under 100g a day) and stay away from vegetable oils which cause inflammation (oilive and coconut are ok) Eat lots and lots and lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats and healthy fats (like nuts) - and bloat no more!
  • I agree with unchatenfrance. Go low carb and clean! Try and eat only whole foods or foods you create (put your own fruit in your yogurt, create your own seasonings for meat, make your own salad dressings) I also suggest maintining high fiber and taking maybe an extra fiber supplement if necessary to keep everything on track inside.

  • There's a Jillian Michaels recipe that basically flushes out your extra water weight...obviously no long term weight loss but a few extra pounds that will help you feel good.

Mix 60 oz. of distilled or pure water, 1 tbsp of sugar free cranberry juice, 1 dandelion root tea bag, 2 tbsp of lemon juice.  Drink one a day for 7 days.

Eat healthy like everyone else said...limit your starcy carbs and sugars!!  Let me know how you make out with the drink mix!  I've done it before for a trip to Miami and dropped a few quickie pounds.
