My MOH is coming into town on oct 8th for us to go dress shopping for both of us.  Originally I knew I would be pushing it with my May 6th wedding, now with my wedding being on April 8th I am starting to wonder if I am putting myself in a bad situation.  What have your experiences been with getting your dresses in.  I would like to have the dress in sometime in Feb at the latest.  Is that even possible and then what about alterations.  Will I be okay or am I right to be worried?  I know it depends some on the dress that you get but I am just wondering what your experiences were as a general rule.

    I got my dress at Circle Park Bridal - which is an off the rack bridal salon.  You actually walk out the door with your dress the day you buy it.  They have beautiful dresses in many different sizes. 

    I'm not sure - but I think if you order it at other bridal salons, it can take up to six months to come in.  But, a few of the girls here have said their dress came in way earlier than expected.

    I bought my dress at Lulu's and with regular shipping they said it would take 4 months to come in but I ended up having to get rush shipping which took 2 months for it to come in.

    I am spreading my alternations out over about 3 weeks ( 3 fittings), but I am sure you could condense that if you really wanted it to.

    Again - it depends where you shop. There are many places that sell off the rack - Like Circle Park or A Bridal Closet.. Circle park also has ordered gowns - which usually take 4-5 months.

    I think you should be ok - but I would maybe look arond some beforehand so you have a good idea of what you like so you can make a decision right away.

    FWIW - Brides Against Breast Cancer is having their sale next Saturday.... they're straight off the rack and you get a really great deal!!

    I bought my dress around mid November for my May 9th wedding.  It came in very early April, if not earlier.  I think you should be fine but I wouldn't want to buy a dress much after that Oct. 8th date.

    I ordered my dress at Terry Costa and it came in 3 months.  October is when we are ordering the BM dresses for my April wedding, but those take less time than wedding dresses. 

    You might be ok, but like Julie said, I wouldn't want to wait much past that date.

    I plan on going to lulus for sure as they have the casablanca dress I am in love with but will also be open to other places.  I plan on buying/ordering a dress that weekend.  Thanks for the info ladies I hope I will be okay and not have to compromise what dress I want because of the time crunch.

    I bought my dress at Lewisville Bridal boutique in May, for my August wedding. It was off the rack so I walked out with it.

    BUT, they said they can order a dress and the minimum amount of time they would need would be 4 months depending on the dress and designer.

    So, it really depends on the store, the designer, etc.

    I bought my dress from Bliss Bridal in April for my October 15 wedding. It came in a couple of weeks ago and my alterations should be done the first week of September. My bridals are scheduled for early October. Cutting it a little close, but it can be done.
