Urban Minneapolis Reception Venue

Hi! I am recently engaged and my fiance and I are looking for a reception venue in Minneapolis. We consider this "our city" because we've always lived and dated in the downtown Minneapolis/Northeast Minneapolis area. So that's where we want to hold our wedding!

It seems there are lots of beautiful venues in the suburbs, but can anyone give advice to more "urban-chic" venues? We're looking into Aria at the Jenue Lune, St. Anthony Main Event Center, Day Block Building - are we missing any?

Re: Urban Minneapolis Reception Venue

  • Yes, although it all depends on your budget and style. Here are some others:
Millenium Hotel, Mill City Museum, the Guthrie, the Soap Factory, Atlas Grill, The Depot, the Twins Stadium has a place but I dont' know the name, and Epic. Also, Jax Cafe in NE ... they have banquet rooms upstairs, and if you're a meat eater, the food can't be beat :-).

BTW, how was Aria? I live just down the street from there, and thought it looked super-cool from the ads.
  • Have you looked into FIVE Events? It has a cool urban feel. It's in Mpls off Lake and Bryant. We toured it and really liked it, but when all said and done it would have been a bit too expensive for our budget.

The Profile Event center is a more modern venue in Minneapolis. They have 2 different rooms, and both are amazing, and the staff is wonderful!

Thanks for the ideas! We've looked into some...have not looked at FIVE. We were originally looking for something with a warehouse-y industrial feel but are realizing that may only exist in our dreams so we're look elsewhere in the city as well.

The Aria was gorgeous!!!! We are worried it may be too big. Mostly we were very turned off by the management that gave us a tour. She was quite rude and talked down to us the entire time. She was reluctant to give us any information and instead kept telling us we should look on the website. It was quite demeaning, actually. So we won't be going there!
  • Our wedding is at Day Block in less than 2 weeks!  It's got the loft feel, for sure, but not a warehousey-industrial vibe.  Warehouse Winery might have feel you're looking for, but it's on the smaller side, I think.  I think PP have listed all the obvious choices - good luck!

Wow, that's too bad that the coordinator at Aria was so rude. And how unhelpful that she referred you to their web site!

Hope you find a great venue, let us know how it's going!
  • We are having our wedding ceremony and reception at Solera in downtown Minneapolis. It has a really nice vibe to it and the pricing is all really reasonable. They also have a couple room options based on how large of a wedding you're planning.
  • Check out these venues are well.  You can sort by a variety of criteria.  There are over 180 venues to look through.

    Thanks for your suggestions everyone!!!!

We've actually got a hold on a date at the Day Block...just bringing my parents by this weekend so they can check it out. I am concerned they will think it is too small...but our wedding is only 125 and the Day Block can hold up to 250.

I LOVE the aesthetic of this building! So I hope it works out! It is also an affordable option!!
