Food - too much or just right?

Hi ladies, I need some help! We're having a smallish destination wedding.

Cocktail hour starts at 5ish, right after ceremony - we'll have a hosted bar and 4-6 apps per person
Dinner will be served at 6:20, salad, entree, at 7:30 cake cutting & the mini dessert bar will be available.  we'll have a hosted bar and champagne toast during dinner.  It's a simple reception, leaving out long speeches, dances, garter/bouquet.

We talked about doing an additional late night snack, but our party has to end at 10pm, and we'll probably move to the hotel bar after for those interested.

So if we do a late night snack it'd probably be cheese & pepperoni pizza, but probably would need to be served by 9:40 latest.  I'm wondering if we even bother since it's not really that many hours after finishing dinner.

  • I definitely do not think the pizza is necessary.  Since you will most likely be moving to the bar after the reception is over, if your guests are hungry or want a small snack I am sure they would be able to purchse something at the bar (because at this point what you have hosted has ended and it is now up to each person to pay for their own things).

Pizza or any other snack is definitely not necessary that soon after a full mean including appetizers.
  • Our reception was about the same length (but 6-11). We definitely had enough food with just passed hors d'oeuvres, soup, salad, entree and cake.
