First Dance and Father Daughter Dance

Does anyone know the real proper order of these? I thought it was father-daughter and then first dance because he's giving me away? But then it's weird because if you cut the cake and have that cute moment with your husband and then go and dance with your dad? But then I was thinking do the first dance right when we get to the reception, as kind of our "grand" entrance, but then when would the father-daughter dance come in? And we can't skip it, I think my dad has been looking forward to it for ever, and if said I didn't want to he would say it was ok but be hurt for life I'm sure. WHAT TO DO!!! Help!

  • I've always seen the father daughter dance after your first dance. I've been to at least 20 weddings and I've never seen anything done on the dance floor before the couples first dance.

  • Our is

    Intro
    First Dance
    Father Daughter Dance
    Mother Son Dance
    Blessing
    Dinner
    Best Man Speech (during dinner)
    Cake Cutting
    Dancing

I will say the order of these things is regional.  We are getting married on the East Coast where this is standard, but in th midwest (MN) where we live the first dance isn't until after dinner.

This is how I am doing our order too. I dont really like the whole intro dance thing because if you dance right away people are hungry and wana eat and arent paying attention and see us dance and wana dance after so I think it flows better this way..

Ours will be similar to i2012do, although I don't know that FI and his mom are dancing.

This is exactly what we are doing as well, except we are having a mother/son dance too.
