Do we need a wedding theme? I feel like we do

Almost all the brides I know have a wedding theme and I want one too! lol I do not know how to come up with one though. My fiance and I both love craft/micro brews (in fact, our E pictures were taken at a brewery) but I wasnt sold on having that as a wedding theme as well. Our reception is at the Holiday Inn Airport and we plan to book Heinz Chapel. I didnt think beer would really tie into these locations. Anyone have any ideas on how to come up with a theme?

  • meh, you don't need a theme.  While sometimes themes work out, I think forcing a theme is not worth it.  It could also cheapen your venue/event depending on what theme you try to introduce, and may not stand the test of time in those wedding pics.

Just have a wedding. And tie in some beer-related things if you want...like maybe make a batch of home brew and give bottles away as favors.  But don't force it.

I agree - really no theme necessary. You could use different types of brews as your table numbers, people always seem to be looking for creative things for table numbers.

  • You don't need a theme.  I am getting married at the New Hazlett theater so I am having a movie/theater theme.

  • I think the only theme I plan on having is that my FI and I love Savannah, GA so we're going to try to include some pecan and spanish moss things somewhere.  I think themes can come off as forced...especially in the Holiday Inn!  We love craft brews, too...I was planning on having one keg (if it's allowed) of a craft brew from somewhere like East End.  See if the HI will let you do that? OR, give some craft beer away as a favor?

  • No, you definitely don't need a theme. Especially if it's forced like pp said. We have a theme of traveling, but that's because it very, very us, and it's easy to incorporate into our venue. And we are just doing small touches (suitecase for the card holder, table number are cities we have been to, name tags are luggage tags).

I find that some 'themed' weddings look way to overdone, and end up being cheap looking.

  • Those are great ideas! Holiday Inn is allowing us to bring our own beer. We have a brewery making one especially for us. I guess I see how it could be forced if we tried to make a theme up. We were thinking of giving away beer taster glasses with our names engraved as favors.:)
