Reception hall ideas for a "rockstar" wedding

I am looking for a reception (and possibly ceremony) location in metro Detroit that is atypical, but keep coming up dry. Here are the types of places I've already looked into and why they don't work:

The Fillmore - Will not do weddings in October and on the expensive side. Limited availability year round due to sporting event schedules.
The Crofoot Ballroom - LOVE it, but there are no hotels nearby...and my fiance thinks "Pontiac is a dump."
Concordia University black box theatre - Not available in October.
Planterra Conservatory - Way too expensive!

I like high ceilings and facilities that do not look like a banquet hall. I plan to do a lot with lighting. I've considered pushing back the date to accommodate availability, which is a possibility. I would love some suggestions and honest opinions! Thanks!

Gem Theater Downtown? You get a stage and lights.

The Crofoot is awesome.  Even thought your Fiance thinks Pontiac is a dump.  You should really reconsider.  There may not be a hotel right in Pontiac but you are not far from all of the Auburn Hills hotels located on Opdyke.   Hyatt place ( which is our guest hotel) offers a shuttle for free if you book more than 15 rooms as does the Crowne Plaza that is right across the street from the Hyatt.

What about the Royal Oak Music Theatre?

@ lmalear01 - The hotel shuttle information is great! My fiance might reconsider based on that information. We have a lot of out of town guests attending.

@ JMBsbride - I will look at the Gem. Seems familiar to me, but I cannot put a finger on why. Maybe I've looked at it already. LOL

Another facility I've looked at is the Motor City Casino Sound Board. Again, I love it, but it's so expensive! I've lived in the Ann Arbor area for about 2.5 years, so I am still learning about everything metro Detroit has to offer. Love the suggestions!

I love the Crofoot Ballroom and it's really not that far from Auburn Hills which is loaded with hotels [:

While "Pontiac is a dump" you're not walking the streets of the yac (or are you?) for your wedding... you're partying it up inside. Tell him to chill out.

I agree with the Gem Theater.  I hear they do an awesome job and the food is great!  Plus you get to be downtown!

The Gem is a great idea...but it could be similar in price to the Filmore. Maybe a bit cheaper.

I'd also suggest the Lafayette Grande. Another Pontiac locale, but I've heard of 2 people have weddings there and really loved it. We also used to host events for my old job in their big ballroom, which has a stage. I've also heard they're reasonably priced.

Have you looked at Coach Insignia? It's lovely- floor to ceiling windows, 360 view of Detroit & Windsor, not outrageously priced.
