09/01/12 Brides

When are yall mailing out your invitations?  Considering it's Labor Day weekend, I'm debating about sending them out a little bit early...

Re: 09/01/12 Brides

  • Mine is Sept 2 and we sent them out about a month ago. We thought the same thing, being a long weekend we wanted them out early, alot of our guests are from out of country so we wanted to give enough time to plan/book etc. We also just moved so I wanted that hassle out of the way before we moved.
  • Trins,
Have you received a lot of replys back?

  • Wow ! you sent out the actual invitations 6 months before the wedding?   I barely sent out my STDs last month!
  • Curious to hear responses. I'm Sept 14th, but I've been told 6-8 weeks so I am sending them July 14th I think.

WIth a holiday weekend, maybe send them at more like 10-12 weeks? Did you send out STDs. If you haven't sent them, I'd suggest getting some simple ones and doing that ASAP with it being a holidaay weekend.

  • Yes I actually did send out save the dates back in January.  Although we have the hotel information on our website, I don't think anyone cares to book until they receive the invitation.  I'm also afraid that I will need to block more rooms but I can't do that until the majority of the room blocks are booked.  Even then, it's all based on hotel availability and the weekend we are getting married is Labor Day weekend!  All these what ifs are driving me nuts!  ;-)

  • we sent out save the dates a little early, near the end of january. i plan on sending my invites out so that the guests receive them 2 months in advance (8 weeks). i'm going to send them out the last week of june, so they can have them at the beginning of july, since i'm getting sept. 1st also. i think the save the date was hopefully enough of a heads-up. even so, i guess i'm sending my invites as far in advance as recommended.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • I think sending out STDs are enough for folks to book flights/hotels.  We sent out ours and got a few messages from OOT folks that they already booked their travel.   I'm Sept. 8th, we are sending out invites out mid July, with a RSVP date of August 10th.
  • I am a Sept 2 bride and I intend on sending my invites out mid-june. I havent even finished making the invites yet. I would think sending them out too early people may lose or misplace them which would really suck. I sent out my save the dates in December so everyone at least has plenty of advance notice for travel and such. I think June is a safe bet !

  • Hahahaha ya I know people had said I was crazy sending them out that early but surprisingly we have gotten back almost 50% of the RSVP's!!!! For us we felt the EARLIER the BETTER! Alot were been sent overseas so that takes extra time to get there and back. Also with my group of friends anyways, tis the time that EVERYONE is getting married, so we wanted people to have as much notice as possible. Our blocked hotel rooms are only reserved until June, because we are right in the middle of CRAZY busy cottage country where everything books up SUPER FAST! Had we gone the traditional route the blocked deal on hotel rooms would be OVER by the time we sent out the invites. And quite frankly I've never been a fan of that 6-8 week rule, I think it's silly and I don't want to be scrambling at the last minute trying to track down RSVP's and do a seating chart. From what our guests are telling us, they like getting them earlier!
  • I think "early" to me would mean around the 3 month mark, and I'll probably send them around then - probably 10-12 weeks beforehand.  Most everyone coming to our wedding has to travel, literally everyone will need a hotel, and it's a holiday weekend, so I want to give people plenty of time to make plans.

I think any earlier than that is kind of pointless, especially if you sent save the dates.

I'm a 9/1 bride and I will be sending out the invites early to mid june. I really want to send them out in May, but I'm still in the process of designing them so that will not be happening.

My feelings are the sooner the better because it IS a holiday weekend and there is a Tigers/White Sox game in Detroit the same day as my wedding, as well as a large jazz festival...so hotel rooms are going to book FAST and I want to make sure my guests can get a room if they want one.

  • End of June/Beginning of July with an RSVP date for 8/15/12 or thereabouts.

  • I'm not a 9/1 bride, but I am sending my invitations 3 months before the wedding.  We have two invitations going to Europe and I will be sending those earlier since they (and the RSVP cards) will have to travel farther.

Any idea how much sooner I should send an invitation to Europe?

We sent our Save the Dates at the end of January/beginning of February.

<div>I'm not an expert, but my STD cards that I sent to Europe only took about one additional week to arrive to their destinations, it was quicker for the major cities.</div>
