Can't decide between Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club vs. Coveleigh Club

Hi!

My fiance and I got engaged in April and have been checking out the venues in Fairfield county, CT and Westchester.  We decided we'd like to be on the water, don't want anything cheesy, and don't want a cramped feeling for around 120 people.   We have both fallen in love with 2 different venues.  I can't seem to stop debating the pro's and con's of these 2 venues in my head, so thought I'd ask for some feedback.  My fiance absolutely loves Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club because of the unobstructed views.  I am leaning more toward Coveleigh in Rye because of the charm of the old mansion.  My fiance is really bothered that you can see the pool and tennis court when you look out the windows.  I haven't tried the food at either place, has anyone been to these venues and can offer some advice?

  • We looked at both as well and ultimately chose the Coveleigh Club.  It is soooo beautiful!  The pool and the tennis courts just add to the charm of it not being a "wedding factory".  The staff at the Coveleigh Club are absolutely amazing, and you get so much for your money.  They provide so much stuff, you barely have to worry about anything.  The food there is also delicious.  We were told that Coveleigh has the best club food around, and when we went for our tasting, we were blown away. It was great!  I highly recommend it.  If you have any other questions about the Coveleigh, feel free to PM me.  Not to mention, George, the coordinator at Coveleigh is the BEST!
  • I would go for Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club
My friend got married there and it was a really nice wedding.

  • I worked at "The Cove" for years.... fantastic place, great food, they actually do a really good job with the ambiance of the pool for weddings.

Oh my gosh!  Hands down Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club!  We just got married there on September 29, and it was a dream come true.  The location is so absolutely beautiful - our guests were blown away, and no matter how many times I visit - I'm blown away every time too.  The Club is NOT a wedding factory - which is why we loved it.  It's a functioning club, where they allow non-members to have weddings (thank goodness!).

We were just blown away by our wedding - it exceeded our expectations in absolutely every way.  They were so accomodating for pre-wedding pictures, using the bridal suite, picking our things up the next day, and, of course... the actual wedding.  The ladies all got ready in the bridal suite, which was SUCH a bright, pleasant place to be.  We used the gardens, the beach, and the building itself for our pictures (so you can get a variety of backgrounds).  We were able to watch guests arriving too from the bidal suite.  Jordan, the catering director, blew us away with his totally custom menu, and the food the night of, well, it was more than you could ever imagine.  Our guests are STILL talking about the food (cocktail hour, dinner, AND dessert!).  We used the rose garden for our ceremony, which was absolutely beautiful, having the guests watching us, with the water in the background.  We had cocktail hour on the deck under the tent, which was also amazing, and the reception in that big ballroom was amazing.  You can tell that I only have amazing feedback about Mamaroneck - my husband and I are still talking about how much we owe it to Jordan, Sheldon, and our bridal attendant for making our wedding the most spectacular day for us, and event for our guests!  Not a single draw-back that I can think of!
  • We will be having my daughter's wedding In May at Mamaroneck.  We have eaten there several times, and have also cime by boat.  My concern is that Jordan is no longer there and they have a new catering director.  Has anyone had experience with the new director?
