Should I register?

My fiancee and I decided not to have a wedding or reception.  We are getting married by his pastor in the pastor's study with just a handful of family members present.  My question is that is it appropriate to register for gifts even though I am not having a ceremony or reception.  My fiancee and mother both agree that I should NOT have one.  I am inclined to agree with them, but some of my family in friends think I should register anyway.  Any help from you all would be greatly appreciated.

    I would make a small one at one store for people who want to get you something.  I recently sent a gift to a friend of mine who eloped, and she didn't have a registry.  I ended up breaking my own rule and sending her a gift card, but I wasn't thrilled about it.

    I don't know if I would, but I think a small one for those close family and friends in attendance would be fine.

    Maybe you can have a small registry and if people ask that want to buy you a gift you can direct them to the registry.
