Getting in Shape

Ugh! Major rant!

Ok, so I was doing really good. Tracking my food in MFP, tracking my activity with my Striiv (like a fitbit). I lost 18 pounds and I was really excited...

Then I got sick. Like, really sick. Stuck in bed for a week, went to the doctor for serious drugs, sick. For the week I was in bed I didn't track, but obviously I wasnt' good. FI brought me a lot of juice and a lot of ready-to-go foods (take out/frozen stuff) and I didn't move around a whole lot. I gained back 4 pounds. Of course it doesn't help that it's now "that time of the month" and I'm a little bloated anyway.

So now I'm about 90% better. I started a new job on monday and I'm commuting an hour each way. Getting home and cooking is a challenge.

Obviously I'm being a big baby and I need to suck it up and start paying more attention to what I'm doing and eating, but right now I'm a little (maybe a lot) discouraged. I'm stressed from the new job and training, and adjusting to the commute, blah blah blah...

OK, I just needed to whine a little. Hopefully now that I've gotten all my excuses out I can refocus!

  • Slow cookers are great! I will second that!

Also, I like to cook on Sundays. I usually toss a bunch of chicken breasts into the slow cooker and when they're done I was chuck them into ziplock bags and when I get home I just heat up a chicken breast and some frozen veggies and season however I feel like that night. It takes about four minutes. It's awesome.

I will empathize on the job and commute with you. I gained most of my weight working a job I hated with a 2.5 hour commute. Try to stay positive and don't let it get you down. There are ways to work around inconveniences

  • I thrid the crock pot!!

A few months ago, I worked 8-8 with an hour commute 5 days a week... I lived off the crock pot. If it wasnt for it, I would never eat. SOO easy... Look into it. I know I bought mine for 20 bucks... Best investment ever!!

Otherwise, I like rachel ray's 30 min meals... Easy and quick.

    Good luck!!

  • Thanks for all the support ladies! I love my crock pot, but I need a new one! I've either got a really small one (think dips) or a super big one (thing 10 person meal). Chopping on the weekends is a good idea, I've just got to get more tupperware! :)
