throwing own baby shower?

I know this board is for pre-wedding parties, but I had to run this by you all. I am being invited to a baby shower that is being thrown by the mom-to-be. Is etiquette here any different from pre-wedding party etiquette? Are you supposed to throw your own baby shower?

No you're definitely not supposed to throw your own baby shower. Etiquette is always the same when it comes to throwing parties in honor of yourself. It comes off as attention-whorish and gift grabby if you throw your own bridal shower or in this case baby shower. The mom-to-be may not realize that by doing so she makes it look like, "Come celebrate my new baby and bring me gifts!"
