Would it be weird if...?

Would it be weird to have my MOH in a different style dress than my bridesmaids? They would all where the same color and the both style dresses look nice together, but still don't know how I feel about it? Any advice?

Many brides pick a color and let their bridal party pick out a dress style. I chose a color at and let them pick whatever dress they wanted. It was funny though - 400 miles between them and they picked the same dress!

Look through a few bridal magazines and you'll see ads for bridesmaids dresses in the same color but different styles. That will give you an idea if it's something that will work for you wedding!

Great thanks so much! I feel much better now :) I think they look great together and so do they. Now that I know it's not unknown to do, I have no worries now. Thanks again

It's become pretty common to have your MOH stand out from the rest of the BP. For my MOH (and sister) she will be in the same dress and same color, but with a different colored sash. As long as the styles go together then I think it's fine.

I did the same. My MOH lives in Maryland, and BMs live in Oregon and Nevada - and they are all very different sizes and shapes. So I looked at some dresses and found one from Impressions I thought would be flattering for everyone. When I went online to check it out, I saw there were a few with similar material and such. I picked the color and that they should be tea length and let them choose which of the 3 styles they would feel most comfortable with. We went with the middle (purpleish) ones here: http://www.impressionbridal.com/collections.php?cat=23&p=6-Bridesmaid-Dresses.

Things to consider though: (1) as I said, make sure they are the same kind of fabric, (2) I could choose which length I wanted it in, so that everyones is similar, and (3) order them together. I was advised by our coordinator that the last was important to make sure they are all made from the same fabric wheel so that you don't end up with possibly different shades of the same color. I had my 3 ladies get measured at local wedding dress shops (no cost), and call in to our coordinator who then order them together.
