  like. . a bowl that you put water along with a floating candle in?
  Michaels , acmoore, walmart . . .etc.

  In addition to those above, have you though of Old Time Pottery? It looks kind of dingy, but they sell a variety of glasswear and home decorating things (like a Michael's meets Home Goods warehouse, though it's not very "polished" looking). I always thought it was a sketchy store when my mom would bring me to them when I was little, but I and my friends have been able to get different sets of 99 cent wine glasses there (that do NOT look 99 cents), cheap mirrors, etc. I can imagine that they would have a great assortment of vases too. I know they have one in Charlotte and one in the Greensboro area. I suspect they have one in the greater Wilmington area because some guests who live done there got us gifts from OTP.
  
  Craigslist, ebay, and trash to treasure boards are also great. a lot of DIY brides need to unload vases when the wedding is done and you can probably get them for a steal there.
