Marriage Licenses

Does anyone know if you must get your marriage license in the specific TOWN your ceremony is taking place in, or just the county? Our ceremony is in Rochester, but if I can avoid standing in line at city hall, and just go to the Henrietta town clerk, life would be much easier :) Thanks!

Yes, you can get it at any town/city hall that issues them!

Oh good call!  It would be a lot easier to go to Webster and not go into the city!!

To my knowledge it doesn't even have to be in the same county.  We currently live in Omaha and will be getting married in Penn Yan, NY.  We both won't be in the state until 2 days before and we plan on just going to the nearest clerics office the minute my plane lands in Rochester which is a different county than Penn Yan.

It is only valid for 60 days.
