reconciliation before rehearsal?

I heard of a church that did reconciliation before the rehearsal for anyone who was interested in the wedding party. Has anyone done this or is anyone planning on doing this? I thought it was a neat idea but I've never seen it done yet.

    yep.  I plan on doing this either before or after the rehearsal.  It's highly encouraged to go to reconciliation before you receive any sacrament so that you are in a state of grace.  It's pretty common for churches to do this.  Just talk to your parish priest about it, and I'm sure he'll be more than willing to accomodate you and the other members of your WP.

    I hadn't heard of this.  I just went to confession as my RD is scheduled over the normal time for reconciliation at my parish, so I couldn't really find a time closer to the wedding to do it.  Hopefully I can avoid all mortal sins for the next week.  ;)

    I've heard of it. Your best bet it to talk to your priest and see what he can do. FI and I will probably schedule a time for confession for ourselves the day of the rehearsal.

    our priest heard confessions right after our rehearsal, before we went to dinner.

    My church strongly encourages the bride and groom to receive reconciliation prior to getting married, but they specify that the rehearsal is not the time for that (at this particular parish there is usually only 1 priest available at any one time, so that's the reason they aren't always available).  They want you to make an appointment prior to the rehearsal, or come in earlier in the day, or ensure that you attend another parish that is offering confession prior to your wedding.  That's just specific to my church, but I think it's a fabulous gift if your church is able to do it after the rehearsal and I would definitely take advantage of it.  Congrats Mica and many blessings to you!

    We are going to have Reconciliation for our party and ourselves during Rehearsal. This will allow us all to be in a state of Grace.

    Both my husband and I did reconciliation the day before the RD. We did it in the morning when we made sure all the paperwork was good to go.

    I was in a wedding where they had it right after the rehearsal. I thought it was really nice, and I went! So did the bride and groom as well as my boyfriend (a groomsman) (now my fiance lol). I definitely want to do that, or even do it the morning of the wedding if possible.

    Our rehearsal was conducted by the deacon because it was the priest's day off.  But the deacon made sure to remind everyone about the regularly scheduled reconciliation times the following morning, and encouraged people to go.

    I had completely forgotten to ask the priest about it ahead of time but after the rehearsal he pulled us aside invidually and heard our confessions.

    great thanks guys! i'll definitely talk to my priest about it. seems like a neat thing to offer to the entire wedding party if we can coordinate it. otherwise it will just be fiance and i doing it some other time right around then.
