Extremly stressed out....long...

Hello,

It has all been smooth sailing until yesterday, i am getting all the girls make-up and hair done on the day of the wedding, the mom's will be getting their hair done as well. We have to be ready for 1:00pm to go and do the video and the photos and i am a bit freaked out how everything will all get done. I have 5 girls + 2 mom's + myself.
Please share me with me the size of your bridal party and how long it took for everyone to get ready or if you have not gotten married yet a time-line of when you will begin hair and make-up so that you are ready for a certain time.
i had jut begun planning and i am really ready to call it quits and elope. I don't know how people make it through these months before the wedding stress free.

Please help, advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

While I haven't been through it yet - I am having 4 girls, 2 moms and myself. Whens your wedding? You may have time to figure this all out.

I know other girls may disagree - but I don't think it's necessary to have all the girls get their makeup done if it is stressing you out.

Don't get discouraged. Just prioritize yourself a little more and don't get so stressed out about the girls "look".
  • JoyMatt424:  Thank's for the advice. To answer your question my wedding is June 11, 2011. I gave the girls the option of what they wanted done and all chose to do it all. I want everyone to feel pretty and look as good as the bride. I am more concerened about the time it will take for everything. The make-up artist said it will take an hour just for my make-up.
I appreciate you replying. Good luck with all your planning for your special day.

I'm a big fan of everyone having professional hair and makeup done that wants it.  I wanted my girls to feel beautiful and be pampered.  No one is going to outshine the bride.  :)

The general rule of thumb is to allow 1.5 hours for the bride and 1 hour for the maids (hair and makeup).  If your MUA suggests longer, definitely listen.  I wish I had allowed about 30 minutes longer.  I ended up taking almost 2 hours just for myself and ended up being rushed at the end.  I had one MUA for the 3 of us but she brought an assistant who was in training who got started on my sister while I was getting finished.  You will definitely need two MUAs to get the job done.  Also allow about 20 minutes to dress, get your jewelry and shoes on, etc.

Have the moms go first with hair  (with 2 MUAs 30 minutes) then start on the maids (5 maids + 2 MUAs = 3 hours) and do yourself last (you and the last maid can start at the same time if you have 2 MUAs).  I have to stay that this was the most stressful time of the day for me, in part because it is also the same time everything is coming together in the other areas (florist is arriving, set up is happening, etc.).  Just allow plenty of time and it will be a fun time for you and the bridal party.

  • Your hair and make-up artists should be able to suggest a timeline. If you are doing a trial run you could use that as a reference for the time frame. Also, I plan on having my hair done on site in the bridal suite. If this option is available to you, take it! I think it's more relaxing and can really save on time. Plus you don't have to worry about anything getting messed up during the travels to the site. I have 5 bridesmaids as well but I don't know if they are all getting their hair done. I left it up to them. I think Stephie's timeline sounds great. You also need to take into consideration the length of your bms' hair. That will affect how long it takes of course. I've been there with the stress-go get a massage! Whenever I was feeling overwhelmed, it helped to remember that the only part of the day that REALLY matters is that I am marrying my best friend and the love of my life. How exciting!!!

  • You're best bet? Ask your MUA! Most of us tend to either have other MUA friends who are always willing to help out. With a larger bridal party, moms, and everyone else-it's always good to have all hands on deck.

An hour for the  bride is not an unfair estimate. If you have a true pro, she can probably be done in 45 minutes to an hour. Some MUAs take longer. It all depends on the look. However, it is a general rule of thumb that MUAs spend the MOST time on brides. That means if you take an hour, the other girls will probably be done in a half an hour to 45 minutes.

    Good luck, and don't panic!
