Menswear

We are beginning to discuss options for the guys, we are undecided on whether we do suits or tuxes.  I have not been impressed with the fittings performed at Men's Warehouse in the past.  Any recommendations for reasonably priced shops that offer various options?  Anyone done tuxes/suits through Cinderella's?  Any advice is appreciated!

We are getting our tuxes through Robert's Tuxedos in North Attleboro MA and they have been wonderful and have a good selection.

FI is having a double lapel and the GM are doing the single, I think it adds something and I'd never seen it before.

Our guys bought suits at Spardellos.  They were fantastic to work with if you are looking to purchase the suits/tuxes.

We got the suit & shirt sizes of all of the groomsmen to start.  We then waited for a mega sale on the Jos A. Bank website & ordered all 6 of the suits.  The suits came out to $120 a piece.  We ordered them & we bought the shirts for the groomsmen, and had each of the groomsmen give us the money.  The suits cost what renting a tux would have & they each have the suit to keep.  I, for one, think it's a great idea.  Here's a link to our the teasers from our wedding if you're curious to see how it came together: http://www.melissarobotti.com/blog/index.php/2011/10/24/roger-williams-park-casino-wedding/

If you decide to purchase suits, bear in mind it's an extra expense for the guys and they have to be sure to get the same one (if that's what you want). So you'd have to select one from a shop that has locations wherever the G-men are located. My husband's friend did the suit route from Macy's. It was a pain for us, plus much more expensive than renting. And it was Navy, which is a nice color, thankfully, but not one that he would have normally purchased for himself otherwise. Tuxes you don't have to worry about them keeping clean or anything, which is nice.

Thanks ladies.  I prefer the look of a tux but FI is unsure (we will see who wins).

This is the look that I love:  http://www.stylemepretty.com/gallery/photo/406901. It is a tuxedo but not too formal.  I am trying to figure out the designer but I have not had much luck.  We don't want a formal black tux more of a charcoal grey since the girls will be navy.

My FI is not a tux guy at all. I think it is a good idea if they all agree about the color if it comes to buying. We went and checked out Jos. A, Banks website also. You can't beat the price and hopefully if we go through them, I am sure they will have another great sale. We are just unsure at this point.
  • i would go with The Tux Shoppe in East Greenwich -- i know many people who have gone there and they looked stunning! Very easy to work with!  I think they have a link here on the Knot under tuxedos.
