Reception Lighting

I LOVE the idea of having lighting at our reception that affects the mood throughout the evening by changing color or saturation.  My DJ says he can provide lighting that would wash over the ceiling for an additional $1,000 which I don't think is worth it. And then I found another lighting guy who said he could do lighting for $600.  Still heavy on the price tag, but better than the first offer.

Since I only found 2 quotes, I'm wondering if any other brides know of lighting vendors? Or at least know whether $600 is a good or bad deal?

I definitely want to do it, but it's just so much more than I ever expected to pay.  And it feels like the budget is always creeping bigger & bigger, so I'm trying to find the best deal possible.

Did you try aria styles or the prop gallery? I think they can be pretty pricey, but I'm pretty sure they both do lighting.
