Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Looking for input :)

Hi!
My fiance and I are planning to get married Aug.11th 2012 and this is our venue!  We plan on getting married outside of the community hall and having our reception inside.   I was wondering if you had any input on what you think would work best for a ceremony here?  It will be a short ceremony (10-15mins. ) and we plan to have no seating except for a couple of benches for our grandparents .  How would you place all of the bridal party? (4gm and 4bm, 2 flowergirls, 2ringbearers) .

Here is what I'm thinking : ( when looking at the front doors of venue)

* 4 groomsmen standing on top level, left of the door
* Groom and Minister standing on bottom level, centre
* Ringbearers and flowergirls walk from right side of venue down the "aisle" that we will create - up stairs on the right and give ring to Groom.  Then they will walk behind the Groom and Minister and stand in front of groomsmen / bridesmaids side
* Bridesmaids will walk down the aisle and up behind the Groom and Minister and stand on the right hand side of the door
*I (bride) will do the same walk down the aisle and up towards my Groom and the Minister

Our guests will be standing on the lawn in front of the community hall.

I would really love to hear any ideas, suggestions or any problems you may  see happening here!  Thanks so much !!

Happy New Year!!

Re: Looking for input :)

  • I am getting married 6/2/12. We have a similar plan to have the wedding part outside of the community center and the reception indoors. I believe the center has enough chairs--but we would have to set them up ourselves. Too much stress for the day of the wedding. So I am thinking we may have to contract someone to provide an arch and outdoor seating... This wasn't really in our budget but I can't imagine asking my guests to stand, even if the ceremony is short.

I'm anxious to hear other feedback and see if there may be other options to provide outdoor seating without breaking the budget.

Good luck! And happy new year to you too!
  • Please have seats for your guests during your ceremony.
  • Hmmm... I will deffinetly see what my options are as far as affordable seating that will fit on the lawn.  I'll let you know if I find any great options !

  • Every butt must have a seat.
  • I agree with PP`s about not having your guests stand. Remember that most guests arrive 15+ minutes before the ceremony starts and weddings rarely start on time which means guests may be standing for 30+ minutes which is just way too long if people are in heels, have any type of health issues, it`s  a hot day etc etc.  Please provide chairs... even cheap ones that aren`t decorated.  Hire some local students to set them up and take them down.  Your guests will appreciate this :)

  • Ok, soooo we'll have chairs!

Does anyone have advice or input on how the actual ceremony will take place (as I have it now) ?  I want to make sure that there isn't a better way that I am overlooking.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks everyone :) I've been looking into the chair situation and I'm making sure we get them!
