Re: Good Morning

  • My weekend was nice, we're in Kentucky at the moment. We did Christmas/birthdays with FI's family this past weekend and will head to VA on Wednesday. Nothing really exciting here.

  • Morning! I woke up not too long ago since I took Nyquil last night and I still feel a bit drugged. My weeekend was good, H and I saw a MI4 Friday night and did some shopping. On Saturday, he was on duty so I had a "me" day and saw a Filipino movie. Yesterday, we mostly had a lazy Sunday but did go to a few stores and AT&T since my phone is a bit messed up and I cannot text. They still aren't sure what is wrong with it and I might have to get a new phone! Ugh

I've also been sick all weekend, and I still feel crappy this morning but I am hoping it goes away in a couple of days before we leave to see my family for Christmas.
  • Good morning! I had a fabulous weekend of doing nothing, which I thoroughly enjoyed because full weekends off are hard to come by this year. Now I'm back at the children's hospital trying to play catch-up with my new patients. I'm also hoping that I'm not coming down with a cold because the last thing I want is to be sick on Christmas. Kara- I hope you start feeling better! And I hope they get your phone fixed up and working right soon! Amh- how are you doing? Hope you have a great time visiting family!

  • Oh no, Kara I hope you feel better!
Mel - I'm glad you had a nice full weekend off! I enjoy those weekends, because they really are hard to come by.

My face is still not better, but I just finished off the medicine on Saturday so I'm hoping it clears up soon. I need to make a doctors appointment when I get back to FL to follow up on it.

  • Hey ladies!!!  Yay for CAB and Shay!  I've seen a pic here or there, but I want a boatload of pictures ASAP (well, as soon as they're done enjoying their new husbands!)

My weekend was lovely.  I caught an evening flight to Boston to visit my family on Friday.  I left work at 5pm, dropped my dog off, and got pulled aside at security for the umpteenth time (do I look like a risk? Seriously?  I know it's just because I travel a lot, but still!) and made it to my gate just in time for my 6:50pm flight.

Saturday my parents and I hung out - nothing crazy.  I had an interview for a summer job while I'm  up north while FI is studying for the bar, and it went well.  We'll see if I get it!  If not, I'm sure I'll find something else, probably better paying.  I'd definitely be down for nannying or something, too.  Then my Mom and I got a mani/pedi, and it's been probably 6 months since I've been able to treat myself to one of those.  Took a long walk at our favorite park, and then chilled out by the fireplace all afternoon reading our books!  Lovely!

I got a bunch of birthday presents, including a new digital camera!  Woo hooo!  And a pretty Waterford crystal ring holder, which is beautiful.  Annnd my Mom bought me a necklace of 3 strands of pearls - just what I wanted for the wedding!!!  I like the symbolism of 3 in wedding things - past, present, and future.  I'm also wearing the same earrings my Mom wore on her wedding day, which are 3 pearls.

My parents also sent me home with a suitcase (which was also a Christmas present) full of wrapped Christmas presents so that we can open them with my family via Skype on Christmas morning.  It meant the world to me, as we can't afford to buy any gifts this Christmas, so we'll actually have something to open thanks to my parents!  I'm really delighted.

FI is home visiting his family and is PISSED at his Mom yet again.  Apparently she bought his sisters all Coach purses and iPhones or iPads, and gave my FI $80 and a pair of goofy underwear (creepy, I know).  And then she made some comment about how he would have gotten more if he hadn't told her that he needed money.  Mind you, this is after his Mom took all 3 of his sisters, and his brother-in-law and niece, to Cancun for a week for Thanksgiving and didn't even invite FI.  So yeah, he's feeling a bit bitter.  Yesterday he was declaring that he wanted to uninvite her from the wedding.  I've gotten him calmed down enough now, agreeing that we'll do the bare minimum to reach out to her, but that if she chooses to not be part of our lives it won't be much of a loss.  I hate that woman right now so much.

    Anniversary

  • Good morning.  I am trying to get through to Dec 21st which is the last day of work for the semester.  I had some friends come into town this past weekend and one girl was super negative and b!tched all of the time about not getting to see her hubs because of his job.  It just got on my last nerve and was not something that I needed to hear at this point in my life.  That was just one of many things.  Ok sorry now I am b!tching.  HAA

    Any way happy Monday!
  • Crown - I can't imagine how annoying that must of been.

Cali- I'm so glad you had a wonderful weekend with your family, I'm so sorry to hear about your FMIL - she sounds absolutely horrid!

  • Good Morning Friends!!!!

I had a pretty okay weekend, other than being sick (Kara and I are both Sick Sallies).  I will admit to pretty much being the worst wife ever because I totally had a melt down about the anniversary present I got from H.  Thanks to Kara and Mel I felt less guilty about though.  He sent me some beautiful flowers in a beautiful vase, and a gigantic teddy bear (The part that I was less than thrilled about).  Oh well, next year will be better because hopefully he'll actually be here (Fingers crossed anyway).

Yesterday I went to church with my family, then my mom and I went and got Mani/Pedi's (C!! Yay for our Mother Daughter Mani/Pedi's!!)  I ran into my ex (The same one from a few weeks ago) and it was ridiculous.  He wouldn't even speak to me or my mom, let alone wave and his wife made a point to like try to make out with him in the middle of the grocery store!  It was so stupid really.  I mean, obviously his wife is really jealous of me.. for whatever reason because he pretty much broke his neck trying to look at me and she physically took his face in her hands and made him kiss her.  Clearly, even though I am 4 yrs younger than him and a good 8-9 yrs younger than her I'm the only one who can handle that situation with even a shred of dignity and class, not to mention maturity.

Alas, I digress... So then I came home, drank some wine, made fudge and had this really great Indian recipe with porkchops for dinner.  Dad and I watched some NatGeo and then H and I played Family Fued.  He said he'd never take me on the show, but I won the game, so clearly.. I'm smarter.

I missed you all over the weekend!! The boards are so dead and I hate it!!

  • I had a fantastic weekend. I am now a graduate of the University of Oklahoma! WOOO!! I was the last of my siblings to graduate from OU.  I don’t feel all that different, I feel sort of sad..I mean now I am an adult. Ha! The great part about it is no more stressful finals week or group projects. We had a party afterwards and it was nice to hang out with family and stuff.
We got a lot of wedding stuff done this weekend. It feels good to not have to worry about little things… Cake, Lighting, Caterer (okay, those aren’t little things!)  I’m going into full wedding mode right now…We met with our DJ/light guy, and he is turning our basement of a room with harsh lighting into a great up-lighted room. I’m so excited.  I don’t like to talk budget here, because everyone’s budget is different…but he is going to do 10 up-lights for $190. Which I think is a fantastic price considering what a professional lighting company would do.  It is just him and his wife which cuts down on a lot of their prices.

Our cake is going to be so good. We didn’t get any farther than Chocolate and Vanilla and I was sold. SO good.  They give you a fresh topper for your 1 year anniversary, which I may just fly back to OK, JUST to get it. =) I am so happy with our caterer. They are an all-natural locally grown restaurant and their catering reflects that. Everything we tried was so fresh and delicious.  You can stuff your face, but in the end you still feel healthy. We haven’t hashed out the menu, but I am very excited to meet with the chefs!

Anyway, I’m at work and FI is at my apartment, he has to finish Christmas shopping and other random stuff so he drove me to work this morning so he wasn’t stuck without a car. I am just hoping I don’t have to go to the other office this afternoon because there is no way I’d make it. Haha.

  • Kara- Hope you feel better! Cali- Your FMIL sounds like a treat. I'm not sure I could handle someone like that! Amanda- Congrats on graduating! I did absolutely nothing this weekend and it felt really good. Not gonna lie. Fi and I watched the season finales of Dexter and Homeland last night. I hate that they won't be on until next fall. And of course they leave you with a huge cliffhanger. I didn't sleep very much last night for stupid reasons but it hasn't taken a toll on me because of how much I didn't do this weekend. Haha.

  • Good morning!  I had some friends visiting this weekend and we didn't do too much but  it was a lot of fun.  We tried going to see New Year's Eve on Saturday but they were having projection issues so we saw The Sitter instead which was pretty funny.

    And I fly home tonight!!!!!!

Kara and Sami I hope you both feel better, especially in time for Christmas.  Sami I would be annoyed with a giant teddy bear too.

C- I fully understand your H being hurt and pissed about that.  Are all of his siblings younger and don't have a lot of money?  My MIL will pay for stuff for BIL's all the time, like car repairs and buying them stuff, and paying for things for their wedding.  But for us she never even offered a penny, or even just to help at all with anything.  And it's hit or miss whether or not H or I even get a birthday card sent to us, let alone gifts or anything.  We know that his brothers need the help and gifts way more than we do, but it doesn't mean that it's not hurtful either way.

Yeah, you got it.  It isn't that FI is being greedy, or at least not trying to be.  It's just the inequality that stings.  Two of his sisters are younger, one's 17 and one's 20, so it makes sense for them.  But his other sister is my age, married, has a baby, is a pharmacist and makes a very hefty salary (especially for the area).  And FI's BIL got an iPhone, too.  Yep.  Not to mention FMIL took all 3 daughters, the son-in-law, and the granddaughter (FI's niece) to Cancun for Thanksgiving, flights and a full week stay at an all-inclusive, and didn't even invite FI.  So he's just incredibly hurt right now.  That's over $1000 minimum on each child (and son-in-law) in the last month, and literally under $100 total for FI.

She's psycho - she took her boyfriend on a 5 day trip to Miami, told us she was coming but that she wouldn't have time to see us.  Then tried to talk FI into picking her up and dropping her off at the airport.  It happened to be the same day as FI's promotion, so I offered to pick her and the boyfriend up at the airport, take them to his promotion, and then bring them to their hotel, but she said no, they'd be tired from traveling and wanted to go straight to the hotel.  No joke.

Then she told her 16 year old that she couldn't afford a birthday gift for her because she had spend all her money taking her boyfriend to Miami.  Yep.  This lady's klassy like that.

  • sickness, frustrating FMIL and exes...sounds like some of you had draining weekends in one way or another!

I went to a friend's bday party Saturday night.  I really didn't want to go seeing as this "friend" has been difficult lately.  No details necessary, basically she's mad at me because I refuse to play her stupid highschoolish games.  Ugh.  Anyways, the party was interesting.  I left around 2 am when all the really drunk drunkies decided they didn't want to be wearing pants anymore!!!  The minute 4 out of the 6 people there dropped trou and started dancing around the house I took it as my cue to leave!
Beyond that I did a little baking and am getting ready to head out of town with FI this week to spend Christmas with my family.

  • Cal- I'm glad you got to see your fam, and yay for a Skype Christmas. I'm sorry about yout FMIL, she sounds like a total witch. Hopefully you can just do the minimum and slowly let her fall away. I know it's hard when it's the FI's mom and you have to convince him to reach out just a little even though you don't really want to.

Sami- I have a giant teddy bear. I hate it. FI got it for me the first Valentines Day we were together, and I love him, but I hate that bear. They're just so silly and pointless, and a pain to move. Of course now he tells me all the time that I could get rid of it and give it to a children's hospital or something, but I know he'd be upset if it ever went away. It lives on the bed in the office. So silly.

My weekend was pretty chill, almost done with Christmas shopping. We have to go out and buy another gift for FI's cousin's wife because we just found out she's pregnant, and we got her rum. So that won't work. :)

  • Good morning everyone. I just woke up and FI is still asleep next to me lol. We rented a couple Christmas movies last night and stayed up late and watched them. Today, I have to take one of my cats to the vet because he cannot stop puking. This happened when we first moved and they did like $500 of tests and couldn't figure it out :/ We also have to get sedatives for the cats for when we go home tomorrow. Then I have to get a present for my mom for my brother lol. Other than that, not too much today
  • Thanks ladies! I really do hope I feel better asap, I don't want to get H sick and I can't go play around with my baby niece if I'm sick! Also, my phone is fixed now! I had to go into an AT&T tech support and they were able to fix it but they had to wipe everything out, so now I have to start over with my apps and music and I've lost all my contacts..How annoying!

Beach: Have a wonderful time with your family! H and I saw The Sitter and we both thought it was hilarious. We saw NYE too and while it was nice I think I like Valentine's Day better.

Cal: I really HATE your MIL. It's unbelieveable how poorly she treats your FI! I really think I hit the jackpot with my MIL whenever I see such horror stories about them. I'm glad to hear you had such a good time with your family and Yay for presents!
  • C-I'm with Kara, I hate your MIL more than I hate my own MIL!!!

  • Ok, Mr. UPS needs to come the eff on. I want to get a manicure before Christmas, and this would be the best day to do it, but I don't want to leave because there's supposed to be a package here. The last two times he's woken me up at 8 a.m. on the button. I know it's total "first world problems," but c'mon.
    image
  • hahaha.. I'm sorry DMB!! I have a funny UPS story that might cheer you up!

When we order Curves stuff they come UPS, and we did a really big order not too long ago so he comes to the door and I went to help him and totally grabbed his man parts. I didn't mean to at all, but it was a really big box that he was holding and I was trying to figure out the best way to take it from him.  He was like "Ma'am, it's okay, really.. It's fine" and I was like "NO! let me help!" and he said "Ma'am please. Leave it alone". Then I realized what I had grabbed and I was mortified.. as was he.  I apologized a million times, but It was still really weird!

  • BBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Sami!  I am now dying with laughter at your story!!!
  • Sami!!! OMFG. LMFAO. I can only imagine how embarrassing that was!
  • Sami-that is awesomely bad. Emphasis on the awesome. My face is turning red for you.

  • Sami! Oh goodness! I am embarrassed for you!

  • Sami, that's hilarious!  I bet you blushed bright red!!!

Thanks guys.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates her.
