I love the candy buffet idea and thought about doing one at my reception but opted for a photobooth instead, I doubt my parents would foot the bill for both. Personalized m&ms are cute but candy buffet gives people more options. Ceramic tile coasters are lovely but how many people will honestly use them? I think edible favors are one of the best ideas, I'm blanking right now but the only other thing I could think of would be some kind of local edible favor.

I voted for candy buffet, but EDIBLE anything, really! Always edible! We just did chocolate covered pretzels for ours (with cute personalized stickers from Etsy!).
Have you looked into prices for personalized M and M's? They are expensive.
we had a candy buffet and people LOVED it! i was afraid maybe it was too played out but most people said they'd never seen it. you would have thought that candy was gold they way they were swarming plus. you can make it look really pretty and cute!
The cheapest route would be something edible. Plus you can DIY them to save money. I'm making brownies and putting them in a cute box. Everyone loves my brownies and they are pretty easy to make and not very expensive.
I love candy buffets, but we are doing a photobooth for our favors. I love that our guests will be able to take theirs home with them and we get a scrapbook full of memories.
Another idea-- one wedding we went to had a family cookie buffet. There were about 10 different cookies and they were all made by someone in their family. Not only did we get to take the cookies, but they had also put together recipie books so we could make the our favorites at home. I Loved this idea and haven't seen it used at any other wedding.
I voted candy buffet. They can de done within your budget. The jars are super cheap at like TJ maxx or Marshall or some DOC's have them and will rent them to you for cheap. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
