DIY Projects

How many of you are doing DIY projects?

What are the project(s) are you doing yourself?

How far along in the process are you?

What are the pros and cons of doing the project(s) yourself.

How many of you are doing DIY projects? I am going to do a couple of project on my own.

What are the project(s) are you doing yourself? I am going to take a shot at my save the dates, my centerpieces (but 1st I’m going to price a florist), my draping since its very simple, my isle décor , and possibly my wedding invitations

How far along in the process are you? I have not even begun. I have priced everything and made a budget spread sheet but I have not ordered anything as of yet.

What are the pros and cons of doing the project(s) yourself. I think the pro for me would be saving money and while I think of myself as creative this is still my 1st time attempting to do something this grand.

So,  I think that it  may also be a  con. Seeing as how I  want everything to be perfect I may have a couple of do over’s which will mean spending more money.  I feel as if I will end up needing or wanting more if I do it myself. My friend had a lot of DIY project for her wedding and she ended up going over budget instead of saving. I still going to attempt it though.

How many of you are doing DIY projects?  Me :)

What the project(s) are you doing yourself?
    unity candles
    BM invites*
    toasting glasses (ours, BM gifts)*
paper items (programs, seating cards, invites, STD, announcements)
flower arrangements/decor (bouquets, corsages, centerpieces etc.)
    MOB/MOG bling hankies
    alphabet guestbook
    FG baskets (2)*
    runner
3 cords for cord tying unity cermony
    mirror menu board
little touches to things like dress hanger, RB pillow, etc.*
    (Maybe) photobooth
    (Maybe) programs

How far along in the process are you? 1/3 through my list; *starred items above completed, others currently in progress

What are the pros and cons of doing the project(s) yourself. Time is the biggest thing for me, but I got started a long while ago. My mom and I are big on making DYI projects looking professional. If this can not be done, then we buy it. So I spend alot of time on mock up trying to get a professional look. But once I figure it out, it's usually worth the time. If not, I need to make room in my budget. I also feel way more connected to our wedding by DYI. And lastly, I love when people are really impressed by my work.

I did Std, drink stirrers, fans, unity candle, pom poms, welcome bags, water bottle labels and table runners. I'm pretty much done since I'm so close to the wedding. I would say be cautious on how much you are spending because you can sometimes end up spending more then buying your things already made. I ended up spending more on my STD then what I would have if I had bought them already made.

How many of you are doing DIY projects?
    Me!! I am!
What are the project(s) are you doing yourself?
I am making my "here comes the bride" sign, a stacked card box, ribbon wands, photo booth props, & ceremony programs.

How far along in the process are you?
I've gotten pretty far. I just have to finish up the sign, finish making the ribbons, & start the programs.

What are the pros and cons of doing the project(s) yourself.
The pros are that I save money, my creative juices are allowed to flow, & my personal touches are given a chance to shine on my day. Plus, it's a prideful moment when you make something with your own 2 hands. The cons are that I have to invest even more time that I don't really have into projects & it can be a bit stressing, especially when you want things to turn out perfect.

I definitely had to at least try. Thank God our budget almost tripled so now its not a must.  I'm doing it because it adds a personal touch and I couldn't really find exactly what I wanted for less anyway.

What  project(s) are you doing yourself?
    Invites*
    Mason Jar lanterns*
    Design Monogram*
    Custom Aisle Runner
Ceremony Entrance Deco (Our initials hanging from ribbon)
    Programs*
    Birdcage decorations*
    Place cards
    Escort cards
    4 centerpieces
    BM gift bags*
    Card Box*

How far along in the process are you?
Everything starred is done and I have supplies for everything else. Noticed today is day 50, and I should probably get to...

What are the pros and cons of doing the project(s) yourself.
    Cons:
Definitely time consuming to say the least. I made at least 4 attemps at each project before getting the final product. The program has been a working progress since May. Too many edits to count.
Little things here and there add up quicker than you think. I stay grounded with pricing for similar ready made objects. If I can find it for less, I buy it.
    Pros:
My wedding decor will be unique and 100% personal to my fiancee and I. I'll be able to keep a lot of the stuff I've made for the wedding as home decor after the fact too!  We've been careful and have spent around half of what our budget for decorations was so I feel like I've been able to create the exact look that I want without having to rent everything at ridiculous prices.

I didn;t have nearly enpugh flowers and  I don't like the vase I chose so now i have to change that too. </div>
