Not at all! If you and FI like it and it is meaningful to you then you should use it. I think displaying it at the reception is a great idea.

Beautiful! I think it's a great idea. What a neat present to receive. I actually hope we get some sentimental, off-registry items like that. In 50 years, you'll still have that, but I doubt you'll care about the gravy boat ; )
