Tashua Golf Course in Trumbull vs. New Haven Lawn Club in New Haven

Hi Ladies,

My wedding is the weekend of September 24th. I have it booked at the New Haven Lawn Club for the 24th (Friday) and Tashua Knolls in Trumbull for the 25th (Saturday). Lawn club is more expensive but the venue is old fashioned and beautiful and the party would be in New Haven which is fun. Tashua is offering us a fantastic top package with all the extras at a ridiculously competitive price. I'm debating beautiful venue with lower level package vs. a venue that is fine, nothing special but we can afford all the extras.

We have a 200+ wedding which we are struggling to cut down and probably won't.

Does anyone have any experiences/feedback or input on Tashua vs. New Haven Lawn club or my dilemma overall?

Thank you so much for helping me!

    Yeah Lawn Club!  9/4/2010!!

My best friend Jeff has his reception at Tashua Knolls in September of last year.  They did a FABULOUS job on the cocktail hour outside, I was super impressed.  If you are planning on keeping it 200+, you should probably go with Tashua.  NHLC adds up quickly.

However the one complaint I had about Tashua was the grounds - I mean it's a public park.  NHLC is so glamorous compared to Tashua, that if that's the look you're going for, then it's going to be hard to achieve that at Tashua.

Did you put deposits down on both places??

    Hi
we are doing NHLC one thing that you might need to consider, they told me the top number for that ball room is 200 maybe 220 if you really want to squeeze people in. so if you are looking at much over 200 you should probably go to Tashua.

I'm going ith the NHLC butt the sacrifice was cutting some people to get down to 200...

    good luck

i agree with pp that NHLC is better with a smaller crowd.  The last time I saw the ballroom set up, it was for around 150 people and it looked great, but it also looked like adding a lot more would be a no-go.

no I'm at the society room.  nhcl was my second choice but the SR came in a little less $$ and I like it for ceremony better.

My second reception is at Tashua Knolls and I absolutely love the place.  They gave us a great deal (we also have 200+ on the guest list) and the venue is beautiful.

We looked at Tashua and liked it. There is no doubt they give you a good deal!

I looked at Tashua Knolls but couldn't get over some of the imperfections, such as the bathrooms and no bridal suite. I've heard great things from friends and family about both places so I think it really comes down to what is really important to you. Having all the extras or having a gorgeous venue. If you want a golf course setting I would recommend checking out Grassy Hill Country Club(Orange) or Great River Golf Club(Milford).

How is the parking near the NHLC? That's the number 1 thing I would be worried about with that many guests in New Haven.

<div>I drive by it everyday on my way to work and I believe they have a parking lot. There's also a parking lot behind the building. </div>

Thanks for all the responses! NHLC does have a private and secured parking lot.

I'm getting a great deal at Tashua and can get so much more for my money. I have 230+ guests to invite.

Imperfections like the parking lot just behind the cocktail hour, bathrooms and no bridal suite are frustrating. But what is the dollar amount you put on that? Is it worth $8k?

I have no complaints about food or service at Tashua but NHLC is definitelty classier and the ball room is beautiful. I'm really leaning towards Tashua at this point. The base package is pretty light at NHLC and I have the best package at Tashua for way less.

I have a deposit at Tashua ($500) and NHLC is holding the date so I'm not really out any money yet.

PS. My friend is a wedding planner (Six Pence for your Shoe) and highly recommends both The Society Room and NHLC.
