Mild frustration, don't mind me

I registered at Macy's back in January and I've been tweeking my registry on an occasional basis since then - enough to know that things are always on sale at Macy's.

That is, until this week. Which is also the week my shower invitations went out. Ughhh, Macy's, how could you do this to my guests? I don't mind if they go off registry, but I'd really rather that if someone bought me that chip and dip I registered for, it wasn't during the one month of the year that it costs $58 rather than $39.

  • Don't worry, they will be back on sale by the actual week of your shower, which is when most people will buy gifts anyway.

Yesterday, the day everyone received invitations to my shower, nothing on my Macy's registry was on sale.  Today, about half of the "usual" stuff on sale is back on sale, so I'm hopeful that it will at least stay that way until my shower.  As PP said, most people will wait to buy until the week of the shower.
  • This is happening with ours too.
One night the sheets we want are full price, the next morning they are $75. There is no rhyme or reason with their sales (that I can find).
  • There's a huge home sale at Macy's from July 18th through the beginning of August.  It's like 3 weeks of just home stuff on sale so you should be fine.

Plus they price match competitors so mention that to your guests.  (No online matches of Amazon.com though)

Honestly, it's rare that I buy anything more than a day before the shower (and quite often on the day of the shower). I'm certainly a procrastinator, but I'm sure many of your geusts are as well. I wouldn't worry too much!

  • Phew, thanks everyone. I'm going to cross my fingers for a sale the week of my shower.

  • I'm definitely a procrastiner, so I wouldn't be buying your shower gift, yet.

If I know I'm shopping at Macy's I'll be on the lookout for sales and deals and coupons. If the price of an item is jumping up and down, I'll be catching it when it's down, for sure.

With Macys you have 14 days that you can go back and get sale price for items you have bought. Sometimes they will even tell you an item is going on sale. So your guests can buy something and if they see it usually goes on sale they may be able to go back and get it at sale price a week or so later. You do not have to bring the item with you, you just need the reciept.
