Appitizers and Dessert ONLY reception?

Hello,
I am a on a very strict budget. My wedding is at 6-630 which is normally dinner time for most people but to save on cost I decided to only have appitizers and desserts. The appitizers would be during cocktail hour and will be left up for about two hours, the desserts will be the last two hours. I was thinking meaty or heavy appitizer options like a mashed potato bar, bruchetta, meat balls, wings, salad with strawberries, smoky bacon wraps and your traditional cheese and cracker platter. Then for dessert mini parfiets served in a martini glass, cookies over a shot glass of milk, and other mini dessert items. Are there any foods I should throw in that have more substance?

How do you feel if you attended a wedding that was only appitizers and deserts (cocktails included of course!!!)

It seems like this would be okay. Heavier apps during this time frame are definitely the way to go. Mashed potato bar, meatballs, bacon wraps, etc. are more filling items, which is good. Just make sure to provide a decent amount per guest... 12-15 servings.

As long as the apps are heavy enough to replace a meal you are fine.  We did this and our caterers were making more of everything as the night went on to make sure that the food did not run out and that it was always fresh.

I would be fine with appetizers and desserts if the wedding were later and/or the invitation stated appetizers and desserts. Otherwise I would starve all day in anticipation.
